send mail for new community

Codidact is "creating" sites. Every-time you are working to build a new community. Even, lot of peoples are proposing sites. Codiact doesn't notify user when they successfully create a sub-domain. So, I think it would be better if they send mail to users when they create a new community.

Apart from the email question, which as Art said can be controversial, we want to have a better way to notify people who expressed interest when a new community launches. We'd need to write a whole new "proposals" framework to do that right, which is a lot of work and we have higher-priority tasks right now. Threaded comments might give us a way to do that (still working on that). For now, I've been pinging people in comments (skipping people who've already joined the new community), in addition to the promoted posts.

If we could notify people, and we supported (opt-in) email about pending notifications, then we'd have what you're asking for -- plus a solution for other notifications that people haven't seen yet because they don't visit our sites multiple times per day like some of us hard-core folks.

We don't do a whole lot on the email notifications front, really. The only emails we send automatically from the application are account emails, plus any subscriptions you create. Beyond that, we don't really do emails — both because it takes quite a bit of developer time to set up, which is a precious resource, and because people have Opinions about email: when it's appropriate, when it's spam, what opt-in/opt-out mechanisms there should be... We want to do email right and make sure that folks are only getting emails they want, but that also takes time to make sure of.

We do have a number of items on our list in terms of email notifications, including an email digest of your notifications, and improvements to subscriptions. We'll keep this one in mind too. In the meantime, if you want to hear about new sites and other important happenings in the Codidact communities and organisation, we have a sort-of-monthly email newsletter you can subscribe to: visit codidact.org and enter your email address at the bottom of the page.
