Travel Codidact Site

I'd like a Codidact site that is dedicated to road warriors and seasoned travelers, analogous with https://travel.stackexchange.com/.

I think some scope should be set in place from the outset. My impression is that the travel SE site allows any question about a locale as long as it's couched as "I saw this while traveling, and…", or any "where is…" question as long as it's couched as "…I want to go there". Examples:

  • "where is this thing" with a picture and indication of what country it's in and nothing else: 1, 2
  • "where and what is this thing" with a description and an indication what city it's in and nothing else" 1 (q.v. for an edit to bring it on-topic: adding "I'd like to visit it")
  • "what is this thing" with a picture and location: 1

If those sorts of questions — which really are about sites rather than travel to those sites are to be on-topic here too, great (and perhaps we should call this Locations Codidact rather than Travel Codidact). If not, also great. But we should decide it from the outset, because that's a large family of questions that we're including or excluding.

Please indicate if you expect to be a casual or more active participant. If you anticipate primarily asking or primarily answering questions, please indicate that. If you have particular expertise, either in the topic as a whole or specific areas, please say so. We're asking these questions so we can get a sense of the community being built and whether there are important gaps.

  • I'll certainly contribute. Before COVID, I've traveled for business much. — PSTH‭

  • Someone in the family is a pilot and travels a lot. I'll ask her to join. We'll definitely be active. — DNB

  • Sign me up! Incontroveribly, travel can be dangerous now. But I'm reading up on where to go after COVID, and I got lots of questions! — Technologically illiterate‭

  • There's a pilot in the family. And the businesspeople in the fam travel a lot. We'll participate. I'm befuddled why this hasn't taken off yet! — Chgg Clou‭

  • This sure will have big business once the pandemic is not so threatening anymore. As for other things, sure, let's say I will be not that active here for the time being but if I'm good enough with my current status, I could do travelling questions. — Mark Giraffe
