Welcome to Codidact Meta!

Codidact Meta is the meta-discussion site for the Codidact community network and the Codidact software. Whether you have bug reports or feature requests, support questions or rule discussions that touch the whole network – this is the site for you.

Can there be some sort of way to save your progress when asking/answering questions?

I was typing out a question that I was going to answer myself but when I was drafting up an answer, my internet browser decided to crash. It is a minor inconvenience but it did take me a while to type all of that. My plan was to write up an answer and then just copy and paste once I submitted the question.

Is there a plan for a feature that would allow the user to save their progress automatically? Almost like when you're writing an email, you have a "Drafts" section where if something happens like a power outage, at least you wouldn't have to start over.

This is [status-completed] and will be deployed soon.

We use Redis to save drafts, since we already use it for other things. Drafts are kept for 7 days; if the post is edited after you start editing but before you save, the edit will take precedence over your draft if you navigate away and come back later.

There should be, I know of a few JavaScript libs that will save what you type into the browsers local storage. Many of them will work automatically with html forms and are quite easy to integrate.
