  • Featured Request : Mentoring for NewCommers.
  • Let's have some kind of mentoring for newcomers
  • Should we have a Mentor system ?
  • Why ?
  • It would facilitate some misunderstands and clarification of those without the need for a public comment. It would open a path to people being "mentored" in their first 5 question or what amount it takes to determine if more help is needed or if that person has a good grasp of question making.
  • Update:
  • I edited this question because initially it focused on the wrong Direct Messages, I cleaned it up to generate better answers. Mentorship is needed because some people really struggle to write semi coherent sentences, let alone texts.
  • This community gives me the opinion It's trying to make people feel welcomed, mentorship is that, someone to introduce some regular users, "Hey this is X you see him in X community, he's a moderator there, he's been Xing for 20 years, so he knows what he's talking about","Don't engage with this dude, because X Y Z, avoid talking about X controversial problem", i think i can pass on what i mean.
  • They would help at those "Hey man, is that even a sentence ?" moments.
  • What if we had a mentoring system? I think it would avoid some misunderstandings and allow for clarification without the need for public comments. People could be "mentored" for their first five questions, or however many it takes to determine if more help is needed or if that person has a good grasp of question asking. Mentorship is needed because some people really struggle to write semi-coherent sentences, let alone complete posts.
  • This community gives me the impression that it's trying to make people feel welcomed. Mentorship is exactly that - a way to introduce new users to the regulars, let them know who the moderators and subject matter experts are, what topics to avoid, etc.
