Community self-organizing Q&A in this form, now I believe it is doomed
Not because of the AI. We can see on that Big Q&A site what we all know well, their stats started to decrease far before the AI.
After playing a lot on various sites, I think I have a mental concept about the processes here. Unfortunately, I can not say sorry to the guys considering the following paragraph insulting.
I think it depends on the motivation, why are we doing it. Part of the avid users are simply control freak. The majority is looking for some like a spiritual freedom and growth. The first group is a small, evil, power-hungry minority. The second is more like a herd. They mutually do not understand each other, however it is a problem only for the herd. Because they do not understand, where is this hellish hate from to close their posts and destroy their content.
The natural development of a laisser faire community evolution is that the control freaks take over all the powerful positions. It has two reasons:
- Power is really important only for the control freaks.
- They seem cooperating well in order to acquire the power.
Note, chimpanzee communities have a very similar structure, I would gladly suggest all the readers of this post, to search a bit around for popular science and etology sources.
Note, as a part of such a chimpanzee community, it has unthinkable advantages to be some like a leader. This is why the chimpanzees are ready to risk a lot - serious bodily harm, maybe death - to achieve it. However, being some like an "alpha" on the internet, that is a nearly worthless achievement (particularly on a small site, and considering the required effort to get it).
It is unthinkably harmful. In my opinion, these control freak guys should be simply kicked out by a higher power. Problem is that such a system would depend on the goodwill of this higher power.
In my opinion, specifically to the codidact, I believe that is simply hopeless.
My initial major concern with the codidact was, and this is why I did not take part much more actively from the beginning, was that I could not see, why and how would it avoid the many evil what that old, big, hostile Q&A site network did.
Now, after taking part a bit here, my opinion is that it could not.
However, you are not in the position to do so many bad, what that big, old, evil Q&A site did. And I do not want to sacrifice so much effort again.
Sorry, you were better, much better, but I think exactly the root of the problem of that big, toxic Q&A site, that you could not solve. I think I am out, and currently I do not plan to come back. Good luck.
P.s. I believe, actually there are two ways out of the trap:
-
If the herd understands, what is going on, and actively helps the control freaks to go to better site for them. For example, to the ruins of that big, toxic Q&A site, what we all know. Codidact could do that, but it would need a herd understanding the problem. I think we do not.
-
Actually, there is little problem of the control freaks, if there are many, and they need to race for the content and for the visitors. If they start to expel content and visitors, it could be moved to other, more friendly sites. That requires a central management embracing the concept, and a big site network, codidact has none of them.
