This suggestion has several downvoters (and I'm one of them) so I wanted to clarify the reason (for at least my downvote).

I don't want to see adverts here. I'm glad you've made a suggestion, and I hope you make more. Seeing you say "I hope this site can continue to exist and thrive" makes very clear that you make this suggestion for positive reasons. Thank you.

I've been on the other side of this in the past - I have Meta questions with downvotes. To avoid the ambiguity of whether the downvotes are for the raised problem or the proposed solution, I now try to ensure that my Meta questions are neutral, just describing the topic of discussion, and I put my personal preference of a solution in an answer. This way downvotes on the question mean people don't want to see the discussion, and downvotes on my answer mean people don't like my proposed solution.

There's still the possibility of ambiguity, since someone may downvote my question for being written in a style they don't like, but I find separating into question and answer makes both upvotes and downvotes a little easier to interpret.

@trichoplax: I upvoted this because the question is well enough written and I think the topic is worth discussing. At most, the question suggests a course of action, but I don't see it as advocating for that position. I literally says "I wonder if ...". In other words, he did write the question reasonably neutral.

That's a good point. Looks like I was reacting too much to the title - the question wording is neutral. I wanted to both upvote (for the well posed question) and downvote (for the suggestion of advertising), but you've shown that the downvote was unnecessary so I've removed it and added an upvote instead.
