Reset button for drafts [duplicate]

This question has been addressed elsewhere. See: Allow discarding of drafts

This question was closed; new answers can no longer be added. Users with the reopen privilege may vote to reopen this question if it has been improved or closed incorrectly.

I was recently editing someone else's answer, but I didn't like my changes and decided to redo them. However, there was no way to reset the edit (revert to the state before I started editing). The Cancel button doesn't work either, it just exits the page and when I click on "Suggest Edit" again, the draft I wanted discarded was reloaded.

Can we have a reset button for this sort of situation?

I would think that "cancel" should mean "throw away my draft". But I see it doesn't currently; it just cancels the session while preserving the state.

@MonicaCellio that's what I thought as well, maybe it should be renamed something like "Exit"?

You can just delete everything.

@OlinLathrop actually no; if you started to edit a post, then your choices are your edit state or nothing, but "go back to the way it was before I touched it" isn't an option unless you copy it out of the post history. (Or open it in an incognito window, or probably other things we shouldn't make people do.)
