I received a notification for a comment that includes an @-mention of myself, but instead of rendering my username, it looks like this:

New comment thread on What is Backus–Naur form as applied in computer programming?: @#53410 please read the following thread and say there if you agree with elgonzo

Clearly a username would be better than an ID here, right?

I don't understand this comment. If you want me to delete the image, I don't know why. If you want me to replace the image with text, the image already has alt-text for browsers that don't display images, and seeing the bug in context is more useful for the devs than a text description. Your name doesn't appear in this post and I didn't link the original post, so I don't know why you feel you need to be ‘set free’. Was this meant to be a joke or can you clarify how and why you think this post should be changed?

Uh, so this seems like a massive overreaction to me, given, again, that [user who would prefer not to be named?] is not mentioned in the image and there are no links to their post—the benefit of providing a clear image of the issue seems to heavily outweigh whatever negative impact is caused by this indirect reference to a post a user would rather not have remembered. If a mod says otherwise I'm happy to update my sense of these costs and benefits, but I don't plan to remove this image myself.

r~~‭ I am well aware that you have any right not to remove the image. I have flagged your reply for a mod consideration. It is clear to me that the image won't be removed.

Well, I do want this conversation to be removed. If you don't mind, I'll soon delete this discussion.

deleted user if the last line, which mentions the other user, were removed, would that satisfy you? We do need a screenshot to demonstrate the problem; I looked through my own recent pings but I don't have an example of this issue.

Monica Cellio‭ I think so, you can just keep it until #53410 or just use an objective text.

r~~‭ I had to delete the discussion because my many of my comments were deleted, especially the one where I prove that I lack some JavaScript fundamentals but not all, due to writing many fundamental codes that just work.

I will now leave this community for good. Goodbye and thank you for being nice to me and saying that I lack only some or most (but not all). I greatly appreciate that.
