This question has been addressed elsewhere. See: Can I subscribe to new answers to a specific post?

This question was closed; new answers can no longer be added. Users with the reopen privilege may vote to reopen this question if it has been improved or closed incorrectly.

On StackOverflow, you could bookmark a question, and you would get notified for answers as if you posted it yourself. This was useful when you see an unanswered question and think "yeah, I'd also like to know".

I see that on Codidact there is a "follow new" button on each question. But the tooltip says:

Follow all new comment threads on this post

Well, okay, but what about answers? Will this notify me for answers too even though it only says comment threads, or does there need to be a separate button for that?

Yes, this is a gap currently. There's a (broader) GitHub issue that would include answers, FYI: http... (1 comment)

From what I remember, Stack Overflow allows marking a question as a favourite, which as you say notifies of new answers, but it is also publicly visible (everyone can see the list of questions you have added as favourites).

I'd like to see Codidact notify of new answers (if it does not already) but I'd prefer for followed questions to not be publicly visible. Some people may not want every question they follow to be broadcast. On Stack Overflow it was not obvious that the information was public, so at least some people believed that their favourite questions were confidential, when they were not.

True - there seems to be little value in broadcasting this. The upvote is already sufficient to indicate interest.
