Currently on SE, Reddit, and many other sites, if I just select text, and then hit the link button, it will automatically take the link text from the selection. For me currently, the link button functions worse than just manually inserting `[]` and `(address)`, typically I write what I want to say first, and figure out where to put in links later. If I use the link button, I basically have to manually copy paste the text/write the text in again, then duplicate the pre-existing text.
