If you mix HTML and Markdown, you have to clearly separate them, which means leaving a clear blank line break between HTML and Markdown sections. This works: ```plain <hr/> **Bold text** ``` This doesn't: ```plain <hr/> **Bold text** ``` and likewise for any other tags.
