Thanks for reporting this, and sorry for the long time you waited to have us update this post. We fixed this well back in December 2020 (according to the Recent feature changes post: https://meta.codidact.com/posts/39539). As you can tell from the hash at the bottom of the site, we have definitely deployed that change by now and the search box now no longer requires you to visit another page to access.
