Mention workaround not available for comment threads
  • In the list of posts, or at the bottom of a post, there is an indication of how long ago it was posted. In a desktop environment with a mouse, hovering over this duration gives an exact date and time of posting.
  • Is there a way we could present this exact date and time in a mobile environment where there is no mouse so concept of hovering?
  • Some parts of some websites allow accessing tooltips/titletext by long pressing on the relevant part of the screen. At present, when I try this on Codidact it highlights one of the words, such as the "ago" in "10 hours ago", rather than showing the exact date and time.
  • If we had this data available on touchscreen devices, would it be more useful for it to be activated by long press, tap, two taps, or something else?
  • ## Workaround
  • At present, if I need to access this information from a touchscreen device I press the "History" button at the bottom of a post, which takes me to a different page but does provide the full detail of date and time, for both the original posting and the latest edit.
  • As this is available already, the date and time in hover is just a convenience. It would be nice to have this convenience on touchscreen devices too.

  • **For posts and answers** this workaround is available already, so the date and time in hover is just a convenience. It would be nice to have this convenience on touchscreen devices too.
  • However, **for comment threads** even this workaround is not possible, so there is no way to see the exact date and time of a comment posted "about 2 years ago" from a touchscreen device. This prevents putting comments in different threads in chronological order, making it difficult to understand context in old posts. It also prevents checking whether a comment was posted before or after a particular edit to a post.

Say "websites" rather than "sites" to avoid confusion with Codidact sites

Exact date and time of posting on touchscreen devices
In the list of posts, or at the bottom of a post, there is an indication of how long ago it was posted. In a desktop environment with a mouse, hovering over this duration gives an exact date and time of posting.

Is there a way we could present this exact date and time in a mobile environment where there is no mouse so concept of hovering?

Some parts of some sites allow accessing tooltips/titletext by long pressing on the relevant part of the screen. At present, when I try this on Codidact it highlights one of the words, such as the "ago" in "10 hours ago", rather than showing the exact date and time.

If we had this data available on touchscreen devices, would it be more useful for it to be activated by long press, tap, two taps, or something else?
