I recently left a comment on a post, but now the comment thread ended up with a fragment of (the first version of) my comment as its title, including some ugly markdown rendered literally.
I would like to be able to edit the title as well as the comment itself.
(I suppose a workaround would be to delete the comment and post it again, but that only works acceptably as long as there are no replies, or, strictly speaking, links to the comment.)

This is on our roadmap. The current plan is to allow anybody involved in the thread to rename it, with an auto-comment to the thread recording the change: something like "title changed from (old) to (new) by (user)". This comment is owned by System, not the person making the change, so only moderators can delete it.
The logging is important not just to avoid confusion ("I was looking for the thread about X and what is this?") but also to defend against trolling. Threat vector: someone edits your thread title to something offensive; to the casual observer that looks like you did it. We don't want that.
