Clarity for a user who has become signed out during editing

Pressing “Save Post” during editing a post fails if you have become signed out. However, there is no indication that you have been signed out, the button just does not respond, and then becomes disabled. Could the button instead redirect to the sign in page and then back to the draft once signed in?

I like this idea generally, but I don't think that an unusable button should turn directly into a redirect to the login page. Instead, it should pop up a message explaining the situation, and offering to go to the login. Otherwise, I think it would be far too jarring. Personally, being presented with a login interface that I wasn't clearly expecting, triggers my "am I being phished?" instinct.
