Odd pinging behavior

I noticed what I considered odd behavior when pinging somebody in a comment. When I type their name (I'll use my name here for the example) "@phoo", I'll see the user's full name and userId:

When I actually click on it, only the userId + S is displayed:

However, I would expect to see the name of the user while editing my comment instead of the Id.
