Does the total on your profile affect whether you flag?
On your profile the right hand panel (or lower panel on a narrow screen) shows some statistics about your contributions to the community, including questions, answers, voting, and the total number of flags you have raised.
Does knowing that this number will go up when you raise a flag influence how likely you are to raise a flag?
Flagging is an important part of how a community curates its content and protects its users. I'm curious whether giving a user the ability to switch off public sharing of the number of flags raised would increase the number of flags raised.

I flag when I think something needs to be flagged. The flag count has absolutely nothing to do with it.
That said, more public information is better since it decreases the feeling that site moderation is done "behind closed doors" and by an elite few.

The flag count in my profile sidebar does not directly affect how often I flag, however…
There is something that[1] affects my flagging behavior linked from the sidebar: the privileges. After the Participate Everywhere privilege, there are realistically only two possible progression paths. One is edits to others' posts. The other is good posts and successful flags.
I've posted earlier on the destructive effect of a single declined flag on this ratio. With the default 95% success rate required, each declined flag needs 19 more accepted flags. Codidact doesn't have[1:1] that high a frequency of 100% obvious flaggable posts, except on Writing.
This situation leads to a modest depression of what I might flag, particularly as "probably AI," and occasionally some frustration[2] when I do get a declined flag, which pushes my Vote on Holds horizon months further into the future.
