Mark all as read doesn't always work
In the last few days I've gotten a few notifications. These have been about new comments to one of my posts, or a new comment in a comment thread I participated in.

I clicked on the typewriter ribbon cartridge icon to see what my notification was, recognized it as being in a question I was going to visit anyway, so clicked on Mark all as read. I then hit ESC to clear the notification popup, which didn't work, so clicked on the top bar of whatever page I was on.

The notification came back later. I don't remember if it was when I visited the page the new material was on, or some time before that. In any case, I again had to click on the typewriter ribbon, and Mark all as read. This time it took.

This process happened at least twice in the last couple of days.
