Q&A Displaced user avatar alt text on Chromium

When my avatar cannot be loaded for some reason, there is instead alt text saying "user avatar" so that it's clear what is missing. This works well on Firefox, but on Chromium a missing image icon ...

When my avatar cannot be loaded for some reason, there is instead alt text saying "user avatar" so that it's clear what is missing. This works well on Firefox, but on Chromium a missing image icon is also displayed, squeezing the alt text out of the available space.
