Move posts between different categories through edits?

I think it would be very handy if users with edit privileges, or at the very least the OP themselves, could move posts between different categories on the same site.

This would be particularly handy for communities with a "sandbox" category. Letting regular (trusted) users do this would also reduce the moderator workload in general, in case posts are posted under the wrong category.

That should already be possible for every user with the Curate ability.

There's a little "Tools" link below the post, which can be clicked and where "Change category" should be an option.

Ok. However, nothing happens when I click on that one. Mouse-over says javascript:void(0);. Using Firefox.

Moshi‭ wrote about 4 years ago

@Lundin probably a bug. What post are you trying to move?

luap42‭ wrote about 4 years ago

@Lundin no repro in Firefox on Windows.

I get this for any question no matter which community. I only get the tools icon if the post was created by me. Always the javascript:void(0); dead link.

@Lundin found the issue; PR with fix submitted.

Good job :) Should I re-edit this post to a bug report then? Since the feature apparently exists but can't be used for some users?
