Has anyone seen my unicorn "Fluffy"? It has green fur and loves apples. It was last seen-...

Since a few days back, the user avatar is missing on my profile:

missing unicorn

And I've seen the same on other user's profiles or posts too. Not sure if this is related to the unicorn generator (...the Unicode?) or to user avatars in general.

The unicorn gets generated just fine below posted Q&A though. It's the same across the whole network. Should I blame caching or something?

Alas, our unicorn herders have gone missing, and we don't know when they'll return. For now, we've just pushed a change to generate boring avatars for people who were using unicorns. We still hope to get our wandering unicorns back, either from the original server or by running our own, but in the meantime we at least don't need to look at broken images all over the place. We apologize for the disruption.

I've put out some extra-tasty daisies (or so I'm told), in hopes of attracting the unicorns back, but so far all I've got is rabbits and squirrels.
