Donations updates and new features
Thank you to everyone who has made donations to support Codidact already! We are grateful for your help and your confidence in us. We'll be reporting on how we're putting those donations to use - we've got to get some details sorted first, but improved server reliability is a top goal. We also want to look for cost-effective ways to promote our communities.
Since our initial announcement we've made a couple additions:
Public donors page
We want to publicly thank the donors who want to be publicly thanked. (We know that some people prefer to remain anonymous.) We've updated the donations form to allow you to give us a display name and short message, if you want to, which will be listed on a page on codidact.org after human review (anti-troll measure only). We're working on setting up this page.
We'll be contacting previous donors about this, so if you've already donated and you'd like to be publicly thanked, you will be.
GitHub Sponsors
Our application to the GitHub Sponsors program has been approved, and you'll now see a "sponsor" button on our main GitHub page. We haven't configured any "levels" yet, but you can specify a custom donation amount. You can choose to be a public or private sponsor; I understand that GitHub shows public sponsors on the page, and we'll add those to our new donors page too.
We were asked previously about recurring donations. Our "donate" link only supports one-time donations, but GitHub Sponsors supports recurring ones. If you want to support us in that way and you have a GitHub account, that's an option.
