Support lists (bullets and numbers) in comment markdown

I understand that comments are intended for brief queries about the post content, but in the Meta sites I sometimes find it useful to be able to quote part of a post in a comment. Block quotes already work in comment threads, so I can enter the following:

> Excerpt from an answer

Query about that specific part

and see this:

Excerpt from an answer

Query about that specific part

However, I can't use lists to give several points/queries. Entering the following:

> - Excerpt from an answer

1. Query about that specific part

gives this:

Excerpt from an answer

Query about that specific part

rather than this:

  • Excerpt from an answer
  1. Query about that specific part

I don't see this as an essential feature (I was surprised and delighted to find that block quotes are supported in comment threads) so I've tagged this as a feature request rather than a bug.

I'm interested to know whether this was a deliberate decision to keep comments simple, or something that you'd be open to adding at some point.

Pretty sure it's the latter. We added code blocks to support Software Dev, and maybe blockquotes were part of that. I don't recall lists coming up, so I think it's "never really thought about it", not deliberate.
