Could we have a "Close as outdated" close reason?

A sort of a solution to this problem, but would also apply to posts such as moderator elections, one-off proposals (though status-complete also works), and just generally posts which at some point had relevance but no longer, (such as some questions about comments once the new comment system is implemented).

I propose adding a close reason, "Closed as outdated", with the option to link to a more relevant post such as in the case of the Panel discussion, or a link to the change which made the question obsolete.

A proposed close text might be, "This post is no longer relevant due to <insert reason here>. (optional: For more information, see <insert link here>.)"

Sure. I've added the reason here on Meta; we'll see how it goes. If it turns out to be more widely useful we can look at getting it added to community seeds and existing communities.

I can't see any evidence of this close reason still existing. Did it get removed at some point?

The last close reason is "outdated or superseded". Are you not seeing that?

Here's an example use: https://meta.codidact.com/posts/276642

I can see that the question you linked is closed that way, but I don't see anything corresponding in the flag interface. This relates to my recent post, naturally. Regardless of what the actual close reasons are, it seems appropriate that the flagging interface should reflect all those reasons - so that people who are identifying a problem can directly indicate what problem they're identifying.

Oh sorry, I meant the close options, not the flag options. I don't think we can define custom flags right now. I don't remember why the flag options don't include all the close options, but adding that seems like a good idea.
