  • I find the 1,000 character limit on threaded comments unhelpful and seldom destructive.
  • Often times a user wants to quote something or several things that appear in an answer (each quote could be about 500 characters long).
  • It can be somewhat frustrating to start making several threaded comments to quote several things (at least under the current mechanics) so I suggest to drop the limit and count on the user.
  • The fear of users injecting links deep into a "large" threaded comment could be treated by making such links of the `nofollow` type and/or automatic flagging for checking such comments.

  • Often times a user wants to quote something that appears in an answer (and can be long, say 250 / 500 characters) and/or something else and this limitation sabotages achieving that.

  • 1,000 characters might not even be a reasonable length for a decently detailing, let along well formatted comment.

Don't limit characters in a threaded comment to 1,000
The 1000 character limit on threaded comments is unhelpful and seldom destructive in my mind.

Often times you want to quote something "long" that appears in an answer and/or was said in some comments about the question which got the answer and this limitation sabotages achieving that.

1000 characters might not even be a reasonable length for a decently detailing, let along well formatted comment.
