Q&A

Welcome to Codidact Meta!

Codidact Meta is the meta-discussion site for the Codidact community network and the Codidact software. Whether you have bug reports or feature requests, support questions or rule discussions that touch the whole network – this is the site for you.

Does "site" mean "community" or "Codidact" on License field?

Above the drop down list for license when making a new post, it mentions "site default". As people use the word "site" to mean different things, this could be ambiguous, particularly for a new user.

Would it be clearer to use one of the following:

  • community default
  • Codidact default

I'm guessing that "site" here means "community" but I'm not certain - hence the suggestion of removing the ambiguity.

The "site default" phrase above the license drop down box

"site" in this instance currently refers to the individual community. Yes, this should be standardized; we generally use "community" for each subdomain and "network" for all the communities hosted on *.codidact.com (and Collab).

"Codidact" can be ambiguous; it can refer to the network, to the organization, to some combination, etc., so we don't usually refer to anything as just "Codidact" by itself. The organization is The Codidact Foundation, the network is The Codidact Network, and everything together is The Codidact Project.

If you spot any other inconsistencies in "site" vs "community", please let us know. In the meantime, I've submitted a pull request to address this scenario.
