An edit button when not signed in
When not signed in, the edit button beneath a post is not present:
Buttons below a post when not signed in
Buttons below a post when signed in
The problem
This means that to edit an answer the user has to scroll back to the top of the page, sign in, and then scroll back down to find the answer they wish to edit. Would it be better for the edit button to be present even when not signed in, and pressing it takes the user to the Sign In / Sign Up page? Then when they have signed in or signed up they can be returned to the post they came from (potentially the URL of the specific answer rather than just the question page).
Related possibilities
Would this approach also be useful for other activities that require a signed in user, such as flagging and voting? Currently the flag button is not present when not signed in, and the voting buttons are present but give an error message "Failed: You must be logged in to vote. (403)".
