I can’t seem to join Codidact chat.
When I try to accept the chat invite I get the following error message:
Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid.

This appears to be a problem specifically with Safari (or Webkit, on which Safari is built). The problem is that Discord transforms the invitation URL into one that uses a custom URL scheme, which instructs the browser to open the Discord app. That works fine if you have the Discord app installed, but if not, Safari does not know how to browse to a URL that begins with discord:. (I am repeating what I've been told and am trying mightily to refrain from editorializing about design choices beyond our control...)
As a workaround, you can go to https://discord.com directly, sign in (or create an account and then sign in), and then scroll down in the server list to "Add a server" near the bottom (it has a + icon). From there, you can paste in the invitation link from the sidebar here.
I apologize for all the extra hassle here. We do have, as a long-term goal, getting off of a third-party chat tool in favor of our own that we can control, but it's going to be some time before we can do that. Having a place for community members to interact casually is really important for community cohesion, and we know that relying on someone else, particularly someone else with different priorities than we have, is a risk. It's the least-bad thing we can do right now, unfortunately.
