Some suggested edit use cases result in confusing diffs This suggested edit on a math.codidact.com question appears to only add some tags. However, I had to open and compare the current status of the question to figure that out, because it shows the entire body of the question with CSS classes `diff-new is-changed`, so at first view I thought that the edi... Privacy policy needs meta-variables to be expanded https://meta.codidact.com/policy/privacy-policy currently begins > This Privacy Policy applies to all $EDIT-org-name communities hosted under $EDIT-URL. There are a number of other unexpanded meta-variables throughout the page. (more) |

Assets return 404 I saw I had a notification so I clicked for the dropdown, and got nothing. The browser console shows that `/assets/community/${community}.css` and `/assets/community/${community}.js` are 404ing (observed where `${community}` is `meta` and `math`, but probably more general). Question has phantom tag Yesterday I edited https://math.codidact.com/posts/282737 to correct the spelling of the tag `probability` and remove the tag `statistics`. Now it shows in the question list as having tags `probability` and `statistics`; it shows in the question view as having tags `probability` and `statistics`; it ... (more) |

How can tags be deleted? I started heading into the rabbit-hole of organising tags on the mathematics site, and there are some which are obvious typos and have no questions associated (because the questions have been retagged to the correct spelling). In the interests of tidiness it would be nice to delete them, but even tho... (more) |

A: Ability to hide / ignore tags One approach, asymmetric with respect to the favourites, would be to treat an ignored tag as equivalent to X downvotes for display purposes. I'm assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that questions with a score lower than some threshold are hidden unless you go actively looking for them. This wouldn't be a ... (more) |

Missing comment notification Using the mod tools to browse recent comments on math.codidact.com, I just noticed this comment which should ping me. I have no recollection of getting the ping, and my notifications dropdown doesn't show it (and does show other notifications which I've marked as read). This might mean that the fi... (more) |

500 Internal Server Error I've had a couple of 500 Internal Server Errors now when posting comments on the maths site. The most recent one has error ID e0788383-0163-4b45-8b4f-85ff84c2751a . This has only happened since I became a mod, so that might be related. (more) |

A: Let SVG give a try for MathJax > But, I noticed in Wikipedia that they are using MathJax as SVG. Are you sure? As far as I can tell, Wikipedia doesn't use MathJax at all. They appear to have some backend renderer. > Whenever I copy text of that SVG I can copy "MathJax" (Maybe, Latex. The formatting little bit looks like ... (more) |

A: Taking our design to the next level: feedback wanted > Color is used more sparingly in this design, with the eye drawn to unanswered questions and the "ask" button (which is now in line with the list of questions rather than all the way to the right). Actually I find that the thing which draws my eye is the coloured bar indicating the vote balance. ... (more) |

A: How can we improve community proposals? > A factor to consider is that a community needs a decent flow of (quality) questions to entice people to stick around. I'm not sure how we assess that in advance. After reading the introductory paragraph I was planning to raise this if you didn't. I think it naturally ties into the assessing of i... (more) |

Vote counts broken by the update? The question What good are herbivores in an animal army? currently shows up- and down-votes as +0/-0, and both vote counts have tooltips saying "0.5" when I hover over them in the question. (I don't think the tooltips appear in the question list). I know that the question shouldn't be on +0/-0 bec... (more) |

Missing history This is possibly a more extreme case of a bug reported by fedorqui: a Software Development question on regexes shows as having been edited, but its history contains neither the edit nor the original revision. (more) |

Trap tags with spaces earlier in the post submission process When I type something in the tag box, a list of similarly named tags is produced, along with the actual thing I typed, and I can click to select the tag I want. If I type something with spaces (e.g. I noticed this with `prime numbers` on the software development site) then I can add a new tag with sp... (more) |

A: Future planning: what user preferences would be useful? With respect to licence types per category: the Photography & Video site default is CC BY-SA 4.0, but the Contests/Critique category within it defaults to CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. On the other hand, Outdoors just uses the site default of CC BY-SA 4.0 for its Photo Contest category. If I had the option to set... (more) |

A: Voluntariness vs. Responsibility, which of them should be considered as a priority for the community team? Working with volunteers is very different to working with paid staff, and if you try to bring the same expectations then you will cause problems. Paid staff have a contract: the hours and type of work expected from them are explicitly stated, as is their compensation. If they don't see the point o... (more) |

"Last activity" in question lists appears to ignore new answers Another thing I've noticed on https://outdoors.codidact.com/categories/19 : the question list currently shows the last activity on "2020 - May - Birds" as "last activity 10 days ago by Isaac Moses". It's not clear to me what this activity was\, but certainly I posted an answer 3 days ago and I think ... (more) |

Deleted answers appear to be counted in question list Currently https://outdoors.codidact.com/categories/19 lists one question, 2020 - May - Birds, with 12 answers. But if you go into the question, it only lists 11 answers. I'm pretty sure that the discrepancy is due to there being a deleted answer, because I saw a non-bird photo posted and it later dis... Bug reports: meta.codidact.com or codidact.org? I have just observed a bug, and I'm not sure what the protocol is. Is bug reporting and tracking done on codidact.org, meta.codidact.com, or both? If both, and I can't find the bug mentioned on either, should I prefer to post it here or there? (My personal preference would be to favour here, becau... (more) |
