One name option would simply be "roleplaying". I would personally avoid "storytelling", as it has a terrible amount of package; what about powergaming, rules lawyering, playing to win, etc? Those are all parts of roleplaying and playing roleplaying games. (more) |

If one restricted to D&D, what OSR games and retroclones, and what about Pathfinder (almost a retroclone of D&D 3 to begin with), and D20 star wars, 13th age, etc? If larps are not allowed, one has to draw ugly boundaries and decide what to do with jeepform, experimental Fastaval games and structured freeform. Also, what about text-based forum games, often coming more from fanfiction community than tabletop community, though there is obviously overlap? (more) |
