@#8046 I have three notifications right now that won't automatically switch. I'll leave them there. (more) |

@#8056, I've used that kind if feature myself. However, that should be an attribute of the second tab not yet having refreshed. Once it's refreshed, it should always reflect the current state of the notifications. (more) |

I have noticed that sometimes the change from "unread" to "read" is slow. It's as if the flag change is posted to the database on a delayed execution basis. I have no insight into how the database transactions are designed for this site, but that observation may suggest that some of them are being de... (more) |

I'm in the same browser tab. You're correct that it shouldn't matter. From the engine's perspective, the activation of the link from any location should cause the database to flag the notification "read." The system is acting like it's not. I could see your point if I clicked the link in one tab, the... (more) |

Question | — |
Notification dropdown doesn't consistently change items from "unread" to "read" It appears to me that the notification system is not consistently marking as "read" something I've clicked on. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I've been trying to run some tests to see if there's a pattern, but I've not had enough of different types of notifications to see a pattern (and don... So let's cherry-pick your proposal, merge it in with this proposal, rename this proposal "worldbuilding" and flag the other one for deletion. We do need to figure out how to entice more people to join us on the playground. (more) |

I have no objection with merging the two, but I wonder if the four down votes were due to poor definition of the earlier proposal. It's a shame that "worldbuilding" would be claimed by both "this" and speculative science as SEO is going to want to use that as a key indicator for both. As a result, I ... (more) |

@#53196h, I discovered that a bit ago. I'll go update the proposal to reflect that. Thanks for reminding me. (more) |

@#8049, it's been a while since I looked at CC, so I just did. What a mess. If I were writing a story that I thought had a chance to make me money, I wouldn't dare put any question about it on any site or service that used any CC license. Putting that aside, the default license for the ***querent*** ... (more) |

Question | — |
Notification popup does not close when link target is on the current page When a Notification is selected for a comment that's on the current page, the service automatically forwards the user to the location of the comment — but it doesn't automatically close the notification popup. The result is that the popup covers a part of the comment and the user must scroll ba... (more) |

... In a science-oriented world where the answer is a reflection of "public knowledge"in the first place, that's no big deal (you can't copyright a fact). But on a creative site, it's a big deal and none of the available options allow the querent to protect their copyright. As I said, the BY-NC versi... (more) |

@#8049, In the world of creative writing, that isn't true. Creative writing is controlled by *copyright,* and all the Creative Commons licenses are fundamentally releasing the querent's claim to the public in one way or another. Quite literally, should someone ask on this site for help to build an as... (more) |

Question | — |
Proposal for reorganizing the Help Center Is it possible to reorganize the Help Center? I recognize that this might be very low on the priority list, but my first experience with it was less efficient than I'd hoped. What I'd propose is this: Left Column: Our Community (was "site information") About [community-name] (contains scoping ... (more) |

Answer | — |
A: Can we allow answerers to see if asker upvoted them? As I thought through this question and its several answers, I kept asking myself, "what value would it bring to the respondent or to Codidact to know that the querent specifically cared about their answer?" I'm not qualified to go into the issue of psychological dependencies, but that's what this ... (more) |
