So I can't help. > ... that logs somewhere that a user saw its message and can be reused (to record user consent to new terms, right?) There...

Comment Post #286332 @#36396 > The last-used name, or name at the time the post was made should be used instead No, it shouldn't. I think a better approach would be to use the user's account number (for e.g. `user12345` or `ex-user12345`). This also > helps others that might remember the interaction put the post...

Comment Post #286374 > I propose we add provisions to our Terms to the following effect: "We may update our terms from time to time **_without further notice to you_**, unless notice is required by law. Your use of the Service after the Terms are updated constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms." I completely ...

Comment Post #286332 @#53492 > You don't "own" your account per se, you are using an external service, so you are granted a license to use that service. I don't want to get into legal details here, yes, you are granted a license. But the information or the data you put into your account is yours. That's what I mean...

Comment Post #286268 I am wondering who took the decision to write Codidact's backend in Ruby (and why?). In my experience, it runs slowly compared to other languages/backend technologies. Especially for a website that is intended to scale, it may have a much more significant impact on performance over time.

Comment Post #286340 I 99% agree with you. Except for this: > This doesn't have to be much; I imagine 2 to 7 days would be _plenty_. Two to seven days is a very short grace period in my opinion. I think it should be at least 15 days, and up to 30 days.

Comment Post #286336 @#8046 Unfortunately**(1)** (and fortunately**(2)**), I can't jump into the codebase and help. **1** Because I don't know Ruby. **2** Because I don't know Ruby.

Comment Post #286336 @#56529 > It's not the user's fault if you don't check for IP/cookies/content interest/whatever. I agree. But apparently, this process is not yet implemented. And it should be.

Comment Post #286336 @#8046 > If you could make the request from the site, for instance, **then the fact that you're signed in would already demonstrate control of the account, so we could skip that confirmation step.** Yes, and a `Delete Account` button does just that. Much better than sending an email. > we wa...

Comment Post #286332 @#56529 How would you phrase it then? I don't see how to replace "anything" with "that" in this context.

Comment Post #286332 I completely agree with you. (1) You own your data. <s>(2) Your account is your data.</s> (2) The data you put into your account is your data. <s>(3) (1)+(2) => You own your account.</s> (3) (1)+(2) => You own the data you put into your account. (4) You have the right to do anything with ...

Comment Post #286305 What about making it optional? Probably you don't prefer it sticky, but others may.

Comment Post #286303 Edited the post to make it optional. You guys are right. It's better to give the users as much freedom as possible. (ps. consider upvoting).

Question Make navigation bar optionally fixed at the top
I think that it would be better to give the users the option to fix the navigation bar at the top, just like in Stack Overflow. If a user receives a notification, and at that time they are busy reading or writing an answer, they would be able to see it immediately without the need to scroll up to ...
