I don't know Ruby. So I can't help.

No, it shouldn't. I think a better approach would be to use the user's account number (for e.g. `user12345` or `ex-user12345`). This also

> You don't "own" your account per se, you are using an external service, so you are granted a license to use that service.
I don't want to get into legal details here, yes, you are granted a license. But the information or the data you put into your account is yours. That's what I mean... (more) |

I am wondering who took the decision to write Codidact's backend in Ruby (and why?). In my experience, it runs slowly compared to other languages/backend technologies. Especially for a website that is intended to scale, it may have a much more significant impact on performance over time. (more) |

I 99% agree with you. Except for this:
> This doesn't have to be much; I imagine 2 to 7 days would be _plenty_.
Two to seven days is a very short grace period in my opinion. I think it should be at least 15 days, and up to 30 days. (more) |

I agree. But apparently, this process is not yet implemented. And it should be. (more) |

Yes, and a `Delete Account` button does just that. Much better than sending an email.

@#56529 How would you phrase it then? I don't see how to replace "anything" with "that" in this context. (more) |

I completely agree with you.
(1) You own your data.
<s>(2) Your account is your data.</s> (2) The data you put into your account is your data.
<s>(3) (1)+(2) => You own your account.</s> (3) (1)+(2) => You own the data you put into your account.
(4) You have the right to do anything with ... (more) |

What about making it optional? Probably you don't prefer it sticky, but others may. (more) |

Edited the post to make it optional. You guys are right. It's better to give the users as much freedom as possible. (ps. consider upvoting). (more) |

Make navigation bar optionally fixed at the top I think that it would be better to give the users the option to fix the navigation bar at the top, just like in Stack Overflow. If a user receives a notification, and at that time they are busy reading or writing an answer, they would be able to see it immediately without the need to scroll up to ... (more) |
