Link to moderator help pages is presented to non-moderators

In the Abilities page for the Moderator ability, it says:

Moderators also have access to special moderator-specific help pages.

Since only moderators have access to these, the link goes to a 404 error page when clicked on by a user who is not a moderator. Is it intentional to show this link to non-moderators?

Would it be better to not include the link unless the user is a moderator, just using plain text instead?

Here's a different take. Let everyone see the moderator help pages. Having ordinary users understand the view of moderators and what they can and can't do doesn't sound like a bad thing, and fosters a feeling of openess.

That's a good point. When we created this section of the help, we thought we'd be including documentation that could be more sensitive, like advice on detecting sockpuppets. But nothing that's there now is sensitive and I'm not aware of efforts in the more-sensitive direction, so maybe we should just open this up. Worth a conversation with all the mods, at least! Thanks for bringing it up.

I like the idea of the moderator help pages being open. This gives users some expectations of how they can expect to be treated in different situations. It also may lead to more volunteers for communities that need more moderators.

Maybe individual articles in the moderator help page could be marked as visible or invisible to users. All articles could default to visible, but an instance that has reason to hide a particular article would have that option.
