Numbering Display Bug

+5
−0

I think there is a bug with a final text numbering not matching the numbering in the preview.

I recently posted this answeron meta. When I edit the question the preview of the text displays correct numbering but once the edit is saved the numbering is displayed incorrectly (possibly connected to this older bug?)

Here is a picture showing the error. The first half is the display when the post is being edited, and the second half when the answer is posted:

example of bug where the first half is the display when it is being edited, and second half when the answer has been posted.

Did one of your edits fix this, or did some other change fix the bug? The linked post looks like it has the correct numbering now, but I can't tell if that's because you found a workaround or because it's working now.

@MonicaCellio no it did not - I just tried it right now once more for good measure. Also an issue is that I don't anymore know how to edit to fix it. In an editing window everything looks fine only when changes are saved the output does not render as it should. Since in editing mode everything looks normal I don't have even a way to test/try changes (aside from just randomly trying to make small changes and observe results after saving, which would be too time consuming)

Thanks @1muflon1‭! I'll ask the dev team to look at it. Since I (accidentally) neglected this for a few weeks and we've deployed other changes, I just wanted to check back first before doing that.

You should explain whether this is one list or multiple lists. It seems to me that each list should start at 1 separately. In other words, the right side looks correct, not the left side. I base this on an unordered list apparently inserted between two ordered lists.

@OlinLathrop no this is a single list, if it would be 2 separate lists I would not report it as an issue

If it's a single list, then how did the unordered list get in there without additional indentation? Something isn't adding up.

@OlinLathrop I am not sure, I think it is a bug, I tried various several ways of trying to format it but I never got the desired result, in addition the previous while editing shows correct text only once everything is saved the displayed text is 'messed'.
