Can we get a queue for pending suggested edits?

Right now, you have to actually be there to notice there is an edit waiting to be approved, meaning suggestions on old posts often get overlooked (especially since there are so few actually able to approve those edits).

Can we have a moderation queue for pending suggested edits? Or, if possible, not just a mod queue but a queue visible to anyone with the "Approve suggested edits" ability.

This has been on my list for a while, but I haven't had the time to give it some thought so far. I think for now, a list of all pending edit suggestions, without more fancy stuff like inline-view is enough, right?

Moshi‭ wrote about 4 years ago

@luap42 yeah, I just want to know that there are pending suggestions, and where they are.

@luap42 yes, let's just do a list of posts with pending edits; from there people can click through to go to the posts themselves. No fancy queue stuff, extra buttons, etc, just an index. If we want to get fancy, two tabs -- one for posts and one for tags. We can add it to the widget currently called "Moderator Tools" in the right column (which will now appear for more people with just the links they can use).

@MonicaCellio What do you mean by "no fancy queue stuff"? You mean you don't think a queue is a good idea?

@Moshi I mean we shouldn't make queues just because Someplace Else does them. Maybe we want something like that, that people step through one post at a time, or maybe we want something different, but as a first step we can meet the (I agree glaring) need by having a page of links. People can scan the list of titles and other info and decide where their reviewing would be most helpful first, as opposed to seeing one at a time and skipping stuff. We don't need a fancier interface right now.

@MonicaCellio (I have no idea how SE does it) I didn't mean making a queue where people would step through them one by one (also, that sound really inefficient?) I meant queue as in an "oldest first list" so that every suggested edit will get looked at at some point.

Oh, sorting! Yeah, that's a good point; we should think about how to sort the list. SE calls their review things queues, but I don't think they're actually ordered, which yes is confusing. They present you things to review one at a time, and you have to do something with the one you've got before you can see what else they've got. As a user I found that really inefficient; I'd much rather see the list so I can skip past the things in unfamiliar tags etc.

I don't think a suggested edits queue is a good idea. I've tried this on SE, and it's a huge pain. We'll need audits, rant posts, etc. Plus people who spam skip and imo give more work to others is also a bad thing.

I think something that looks like the Recently Deleted Posts list would be just fine.
