Once filled out, the user profile cannot be reverted to empty

For a long time I had no content in my user profile, then today I added something to see how it would look. I then changed my mind and decided to go back to having nothing. However, there is a minimum number of characters on the "Profile" field of the "Edit" tab, preventing me from going back to leaving it empty.

Edit Profile page with filler text in the Profile field

As a workaround I've put "I'll think of something to write here." which is just long enough to let me save.

Is it intentional that once a user saves anything in the Profile field, they can never go back to leaving it empty again?

Not intentional; I think it's just not a case anyone thought about. The editor imposes a minimum length; the default profile text has never been edited, so it doesn't trigger that. We should fix this -- while a post in a community shouldn't be able to be empty, your profile is yours to use -- nor not -- as you like.
