Comment Changes
- Popup vs. Inline
The box that pops up when starting a new Comment Thread is in the middle of the page and it is not movable. When writing a comment, unless it is very short, I often want to be able to read the original post as I am writing the comment and sometimes cut/paste from the post into the comment, and I can't do either of those while the comment box is displayed.
Suggestion: Comment editing box inline in the post page instead of a popup.
- Edit button
The edit button is currently only available only when the full thread page is displayed. However, on that page it is displayed next to "link" in the header of each comment. Since "link" is shown in the same header when viewing the first 5 comments on the main post page, include "edit" there as well - no additional screen real estate needed, so no downside that I can think of. This is particularly for "edit" because if a user is editing their own comment then the need to jump to a separate page to see All Comments is not needed - they know what they wrote and what/why they want to change it.
Suggestion: Add "edit" next to "link"

Should people be able to edit comments if there are more comments in the thread than are shown in the in-page preview? It seems like that runs the risk of unknowingly changing context out from under later comments that you haven't looked at.
We should (all) think more about comment edits. Someplace Else has a five-minute time limit, which can feel too short. (I've had it time out while making an edit to a complex comment.) A blogging platform I use allows comment edits at any time until there's a reply. Maybe there are other approaches.
I'd like us to figure out when comment editing should be possible at all, and then we can tackle better ways to access the function.
Note: Please split your feature requests into one request per post since for example, Someone agree with feature 2 but don't agree with feature 3 so in this case, he can't decide to either vote up Or down.
Feature 1:
I completely agree; It would be really helpful if you want to copy/paste something from the post your answering.
Feature 2:
I think it would be helpful if it is implemented but it is not a critcal to just go to full thread page to edit your comment. Also it is rare when you want to edit your comment.
Feature 3:
There is no a huge difference but I don't prefer it much.
