Edit activity show, but not allowed to approve
Now having a dot next to the "Edits" button to indicate pending edits brings up a new issue. It seems everyone is notified of all pending edits, whether they have the ability to approve them or not. Here is what I see when looking at the pending edits in Physics:
Users should only be notified of pending edits if there is something they can actually do about them.
Thanks for adding the notification dot, though. That's an improvement even with the above.
On a separate topic, shouldn't I have the ability to approve edits? I've written 35 posts in Physics, and have more than twice the rep of any other user there. Lighten up a bit.

I agree that seeing the indicator circle when unable to review edits is not useful. I've raised an issue on GitHub.

Thank you for raising this feature request.
We've created PR #1002 to fix this issue by gating the edit indicator behind an ability check, so only users with the edit ability will see it going forward.
This issue has been marked status-planned until that PR is merged and deployed, or a change with similar effect is merged and deployed.

The requirements for earning the Edit Posts ability which would allow reviewing suggested edits can be found in each community's help section. For example, the Physics Edit Posts Ability page:
How do I earn this ability?
To earn this ability, you need to have at least a 95% approval rate for your suggested edits, with a hard minimum of 30 approved suggested edits (these numbers may vary from site to site).
Note that abilities are not related to how much general activity or reputation a user has, but their activity in that specific area. To see how many suggested edits you have had approved or rejected you can refer to the Activity tab of your user profile filtered to show only Edits.
- The Type column shows whether each one was an "Edit" or "Suggested Edit".
- The Status column shows whether a suggested edit was "helpful" (counts towards earning the ability) or "declined" (counts against earning the ability).
Only suggested edits (those on other people's posts) count towards your 30 approved suggested edits, and your 95% approval rate.
Even if you can't approve them, you might still be interested in the content of the suggested edits. Why remove the ability to see them?
