Sometimes I use the <small> HTML tag to reduce the impact of some collateral part of a text, and in the preview this is nice and dandy. Here is an example from this post on EE.CD (red emphasi...
Currently, when I look at search results, or the list of posts on my user profile, I get results that look like: I have two objections. In my view: Answers should show the tags of the corre...
It happens to me all the time that I write a comment - as the first of a new thread of comments - and then either overlook giving it a title, or expect that the default title will be good enough an...
I think the basic question is: Would future readers of the question want to see it? The main way to use a Q&A site is not to ask or answer questions, but to view existing posts. A post ma...
The presence of an answer already blocks deletion (except by moderators, who can override this). Allowing the presence of a comment to prevent deletion would be too easy to abuse, as pointed out i...
In addition to what Monica wrote, yes, a bug report or a feature request is indeed a "call-to-action to the developers", and as such can only really be answered by the developers. Let me introduce...
Jon Ericson takes the opposite position: find the miscreants as quickly as possible. My thinking has been heavily influenced by this philosophy of moderation written by the late Shamus Young. A ...
This is a bug in the front end (fix is under review now), but despite the incorrectly-shown message, you can in fact approve edits to your own posts. The buttons are active and they work. We're s...
"Score" isn't net votes. It's the Wilson Score, where 0.5 is the midpoint. See Codidact's scoring help page.
Where to find information about the abilities, is currently a bit confusing. There are too many pages. The help page for abilities, as well as the dashboard, present pretty much the exact same inf...
If it's possible to characterize the problem as being caused by "That Guy" - i.e., a singular person behind it all - then unless the problem involves a botnet or something, it's small enough that w...
I was on the Software Dev CD tag page, clicking through the pages of the "Hierarchy" sort. I wanted to see if there were git-* tags that are not nested under the git tag.[1] Surprisingly, I discov...
Seems like every Codidact section appears as a link in the footer, so I was expecting the new https://proposals.codidact.com/ to appear there as well. However, it looks like it doesn't. Is this an...
Every user already has an associated unique number (it's in your profile URL). The easiest way to distinguish user names for deleted users would be to use that number. This is what SE does. A co...
Votes on meta should mean agreement or disagreement with whatever the post is proposing. Corolary: That means meta votes should not count towards rep. It is not "bad" to disagree with someone. ...
I noticed that here on Meta, there is both a post tag (2 questions[1], no usage guidelines) and a posts tag (43 questions, with usage guidelines). The questions tagged post look like the would well...
There are status tags for bugs and feature requests to declare that the lifecycle of a bug and a feature request was completed, but apparently, there isn't something equivalent for discussions. Di...
If I save filters for the question list, I can use them at a later date, which is very useful. However, they are only available on the device I saved them on. It would be useful to have the saved ...
If comment threads below a post are already expanded, then the input box that appears after pressing the "Start new comment thread" button is too far down the page to be visible. This makes it look...
While drafting or editing a post images do not show in the rendered post preview. Instead the alt text is displayed: (For me this now shows correctly as an image, so it looks like this is fixed....
We currently have no way to suggest an edit for tag descriptions. This is a known gap and it's blocking the natural awarding of the Edit Tags ability. I think it probably also blocks doing someth...
This is on our roadmap. The current plan is to allow anybody involved in the thread to rename it, with an auto-comment to the thread recording the change: something like "title changed from (old) ...
Describe the bug The name of a deleted user in a comment thread appears with a clickable link. This link redirect to the top of the current page (tested in "main" view and in comment thread view) ...
On the Abilities page clicking on the name of an ability takes you to the specific ability page. However, clicking on the row of the table anywhere other than the name of the ability just highlight...
As a workaround, click "Q&A" in the title bar to go back to that category, then the "Ask Question" button will appear in the usual spot. It's one extra click, but hopefully fairly intuitive.
