Question Searching tags with a string with more than two characters results in a 500
Trying to filter tags with a string bigger than two characters results in an internal server error (500). Example URLs: - https://software.codidact.com/categories/38/tags?q=dat - https://electrical.codidact.com/categories/26/tags?q=dat Other details: - it seems to affect multiple communities...

Answer A: Assessing the 5 tag limit
I think this also depends on the community, so I suggest changing the limit at the community level instead of having a limit across all the Codidact communities. For the specific case of Software Development, the five-tag limit seems to work fine. If we aim to have meaningful tags as shown by Lund...

Question January 2023 Newsletter featured link broken on Codidact communities other than Meta
I have noticed that the January 2023 Newsletter featured link is pointing to the current page URL instead of the blog post when it is rendered on a site that it is not Meta Codidact. Examples: - https://software.codidact.com/ -> January 2023 Newsletter featured link target is the current page URL ...

Question Move current password field up in the edit account settings
Currently, the change password form looks like this: Edit account - change password form Having a form like this might create some problems: - Password - is it the new one or the old one? we find out only by checking the other fields. - it is different from virtually all sites I know which ...

Comment Post #285601 @#53922 Real names are an exception, but as mentioned in another comment thread on this question, I would nudge the user to consider making a (slight) change to avoid the name "collision".

Answer A: Codidact's policy regarding posts, user names and profiles with political content
Important note: this is my personal perspective, but it is the basis for my moderation activity on Software Codidact Political content in posts Unless we are talking about Politics Codidact or similar, I consider that political content is offtopic in posts. Political content in the user prof...

Question Please make dashboard button/link easier to access
Until reading this thread I did not know that the dashboard even exists. It took me a little bit to find it, so there is a chance it might be hard to find for other users as well. The upper communities list content is rather strange because its actions are not put together: Sign Out is put next to...

Question Minimal data explorer for analytics
I am wondering if we can have a minimal data explorer for Codidact communities: - mirror the publicly available tables/columns in a separate database (can be done once per day to minimize the impact) - allow logged-in users (maybe have a privilege for this?) to issue read queries with a pretty sm...

Comment Post #285397 @#8045 Yes, the payment was fine, it is just the 404 Not found page that might create confusion. It might be related to the fact that I was not starting on a "normal" site URL, but directly from the Donate URL and it might fail due to some strange routing error.

Question 404 Not found after donation success
1. Start browsing at https://software.codidact.com/donate 1. Finalize the donation 1. The browser redirects to https://software.codidact.com/donate/success which displays a 404 Not Found page I have tried this on Software development community only, but I guess it might happen on other communiti...

Comment Post #285219 AFAIK, SE allows closed questions to be shown to virtually anyone and I often get search engine results directly to closed questions. The deleted ones are indeed visible to users with 10K+ reputation (non-beta sites). I find your idea the quickest to implement, but some underlying issues with que...

Comment Post #285224 Yes, I agree. The sandbox should be an opt-in, not a default option for a community. Software Development is also a good candidate because many recent questions are low quality and could be improved with some community members and OP effort.

Answer A: Should we remove closed questions from the question list?
Yes I have been thinking about this for a while, even before Codidact existed and I think the hard reality is that it is almost impossible to have a "one size fits all" (what SE is basically trying) that works fine for everyone involved. Most of the time, it is a huge gap between newbies and exper...

Comment Post #284750 Yes, tag merge requires some attention and that's why I always read the explanatory text so that I am sure about which tag survives and which does not.

Comment Post #284688 Until recurrent payments are allowed, I have set up a recurrent task in my task manager (monthly) to make a payment. Also, I am not sure amount the commissions, but AFAIK they include a fixed amount, so I guess less frequent bigger donations would be preferable.

Comment Post #284688 Good job! :). Might be a matter of taste, but I find the Donate button quite easy to miss as it is below the initial view (you have to scroll a little to get to it). Another option is to have a little link next to Help (on the top navbar) if it is not too intrusive.

This is not a bug, just a rather funny result as we virtually allow anything as a user name:

Comment Post #284210 The post has been deleted by its author and it seems to contain the expected tags now. Anyway, there is some (cache-related?) weirdness surrounding the tags and sometimes things are (partially) not applied.

Comment Post #282984 I think one nice approach is to not show the character length unless the text length is getting closer or above the max length. This prevents: 1. cluttering the UI with information you almost never want to know 2. having some other UI element changing as you type (the char count)

Comment Post #281602 Not sure if your request is clear. Do you want to see how the total stars (algebraic sum of received votes) evolves over time across the board? (all accounts). Should this include meta? Also, putting together activity from, let's say Software Development and The Great Outdoors is a little bit strange...

Comment Post #281037 @ArtOfCode - why do we actually need this filtering? Is it related to script injection? I am asking because it is the first time I notice such filtering on any platform that deals with text posts (and code). Thanks.

Answer A: Is it possible to accept an answer? How to accept an answer?
As already mentioned it is not possible to accept an answer on Codidact, as opposed to what happens on the Stack Exchange network. Having accepted answers (+ pinning them) might lead to having a bad answer marked as accepted and Stack Overflow is currently spending a lot of time and effort to fix thi...
