I had assumed that was what @#8062 meant, but now I read back their answer they do indeed talk about "instances".
Is an instance a collection of communities? (I'd love to both get a technical understanding, and make sure I'm using the right terminology) (more) |

> that's your prerogative, as long as proper attribution is given
This is the rule for communities that are hosted on Codidact (presumably it's in a ToC somewhere?) but the AGPL licence doesn't require folks to follow that ToC if they self-host right? They **should**, because that's the kind, sens... (more) |

Question | — |
Tagging @username in a question/answer/comment Is it possible to tag users by their handle. E.g. ``` Oh hey @da5nsy do you have an answer for this question? ``` It doesn't look like it does, because names are not hyperlinked but then I saw @manassehkatz tag @ArtOfCode in this answer and now I have no idea... Hmm, so user tagging doesn't do anything (right?)
So I've started a [new comment thread](https://meta.codidact.com/comments/thread/7905) over on the other question. (more) |

Yep thanks! Subtly different question, but [this answer](https://meta.codidact.com/posts/75060/75061#answer-75061) answers my question too (though it is 3 years old... any update @ArtOfCode?) (more) |

> User names don't have to be unique
Huh, wow, that's unusual. And kind of interesting. Isn't everyone in this day and age used to having to come up with something unique for a username?
> Would it help if we added the name to the end, such as users/64176/da5nsy?
Thanks for offering the sugg... (more) |

Question | — |
Proposal: Human-readable profile URLs Would it be possible to have human-readable profile URLs instead of numbers? e.g. https://meta.codidact.com/users/da5nsy or https://meta.codidact.com/users/@da5nsy rather than https://meta.codidact.com/users/64176 (more) |

Question | — |
Proposal: remove Twitter from profiles Seeing the option to list a Twitter profile on one's profile leaves a bad taste in my mouth given recent developments on that site. I don't think it deserves to be promoted above other social media websites. Why have an input box for your Twitter handle, but not your Truth Social handle? (I'm bein... (more) |

Question | — |
Can I subscribe to new answers to a specific post? Can I follow/subscribe to a question so that I'm notified when it has new answers? It looks like a can subscribe to new comments using the "Follow new" button below a post, but I'm more interested in answers (or maybe both comments AND answers?) (more) |
