Answer A: Should we have organization accounts?
An alternative approach would be to have the concept of organizations but not separate accounts. A user who is a member of one or more organizations could have a way, when posting, to say "on behalf of this org", and it would show up something like your "for the dev team" example. Advantages: - ...

Article January 2023 Newsletter
Happy new year from the Codidact team! We have a bunch of updates to share about the server migration, platform changes, and new contributors – and we'll check in on the roadmap we laid out to see how we're doing. Server upgrade We have migrated and slightly re-architected our servers. Our ...

Answer A: Can't click notification icon
The notifications bug is known and we're working on a fix. (It has to be made in one repo, propagated to another via `npm`, and then of course deployed. I think we're waiting for the `npm` step at the moment.) The bug happens if you click directly on the number or text, but if you click in the whi...

Answer A: Comment flagging is hidden from inexperienced users
We definitely want this to be possible from the in-page view, without clicking through to the thread. This issue is even on the roadmap we laid out at the beginning of the year -- it's important. I thought this would be easy but it turns out there are some complications in the code. I was just ...

Answer A: Creating new Discord channels
We can't grant the ability broadly without also granting destructive abilities, as another answer says. If any community wants more channels under its section, admins can create them -- just let us know. I haven't used Discord threads much, but when they first showed up, threads would be auto-del...

Answer A: Comments count includes deleted comments, which it shouldn't
We fixed the inconsistency a different way. Instead of computing the numbers for all threads at page-load time, we still report the full number of comments, but when you expand the comment thread you see that there are deleted ones, like this: "skipping 3 deleted comments" before the one visible ...

Answer A: Where do meta questions about the Codidact Collab site belong?
Oh sorry; I'll fix that description. By "help using the sites" I think we meant issues specific to this network. You can go ahead and ask Collab meta questions on Collab; it's a small community and I don't want to make people go to a different category for what's likely to be a very small number of...

Answer A: Category new activity indicators reset after release
I believe this was a glitch related to this particular upgrade, and not upgrades in general. Or, at least, we haven't seen this in the past. We're not sure what caused it yet and will continue to investigate. I'm sorry for the disruption (I was surprised by all the silver dots too).

Answer A: Questions previews were introduced: Can the layout be improved?
Question previews were added after some user requests; we'd been planning to eventually do a fancier "expand in place" design where you could use a control to see the beginning of the question and a summary of answers and then collapse it again, but that will take more time and in the meantime we cou...

Answer A: Questions previews were introduced: Can the layout be improved?
I'd like to see the "score bar" vertically align with the title, instead of being vertically centered in the whole "slot" for the post. (I didn't notice this with shorter titles in testing -- should have tried some longer ones!)

Answer A: How do I suggest edits to the tag wiki?
It's been a while since you asked this and, sadly, we still haven't implemented suggested edits for tag pages so there would be a way to gain approved suggested edits. I agree it's frustrating. Moderators are able to grant specific abilities to specific users, so it is possible for a community to...

Answer A: Codidact Collab - should it be listed?
That's a good question. We kept it separate because we didn't want to distract people from their primary focus, which we assumed would be on the communities here rather than the underpinnings. Collab is linked from the GitHub repository and we expected that to be the primary path in. I don't hav...

Answer A: Closing Articles
Articles can be made closable in configuration (does not require a code change), but it's a global, network-wide change, so we'd need to make sure that doesn't have negative consequences for any of our communities. The down-side is that currently there is one set of close reasons per community (no...

Answer A: Main and subheadings are almost the same size, but not in the edit preview
I think the problem is in the relative sizes. Here's what I see -- and the first two looked the same to me too until I took a really close look: screen shot from post The first one is large, the second one is slightly smaller, barely, and then there's a huge size difference between the second ...

Answer A: Vote summary refers to "you" even for another's profile
You're right; that's awkward if you're looking at someone else's profile. I have submitted a pull request to change this wording to: > A daily summary of votes received for posts. The user name is already shown in the line just above this one, so I don't think we need to repeat it.

Answer A: How to make an edit that only changes the tag list by adding a tag that does not exist?
While reviewing older bugs we discovered that this problem no longer exists. I'm sorry we didn't catch this at the time; I don't know if someone fixed it but we failed to update here, or if it was fixed as a side-effect of some other change, but I just tested this out in this suggested edit and it s...

Answer A: Using QPixel in education
We've heard about a few people who were considering setting up their own instances, but I don't know whether any of them have done it yet. Answer A: Filter to show only positive posts
Ultimately I'd like this to be one of the predefined filters when we implement this feature, which is on the roadmap but will take a while. Answer A: Archive to mark as "resolved", without locking the comment?
I think what you might be looking for is "resolved" -- you want to indicate that a thread has been handled, but you want to leave the door open for feedback. I would expect a hypothetical "resolve" option to do the following: - Hide the thread by default, as with archived threads. - Show "resolv...

Answer A: Remove "Post" terminology from sites other than META

The current email path (and asking you to prove you control the account, because email can be spoofed) is a stopgap. We do want to allow you to delete an account more directly. The "about" section of your profile, as noted in another answer, provides a place to put whatever content you like, including a proto-CV if you choose. Answer A: What information should be displayed on a network profile?
I thought the best way to respond to this answer would be with a sketch. The answer raises a few key points: - Show me my communities (not all of them), in an order I choose. - Show me where there's new stuff I should know about. - Compactly. For the "list of communities" part of the netwo...

As a starting point for discussion, I suggest that the logged-out view not show any posts that are closed or have a score worse than that of +0/-1. We're not trying to pretend that downvotes never happen, just mitigate their aggregate effect. I'm proposing this for the default view only. Someon...

Question Should we modify the default (front) page for anonymous visitors?
A complaint we've heard a lot is that when a community's front page has many questions that are not well-received, it deters visitors. (It also deters some people who are already here, I know.) This is not a good look: post list: 0/0, 0/-2, 2/-5, 0/-2, 0/-3, 0/-6, 1/-1, 0/-3 I'm trying not to...

I'm sorry if I didn't make the purpose of these posts clear enough. We are asking each individual community to talk about those communities. This is one of those annoying things that sounds like it should be easy to fix, but isn't.
