Answer A: Add colors for font on all websites?
The reason why this wasn't added on SO is because lots of people already struggle to use correct formatting for emphasis, using code formatting, quote format and weird crap like that. It's kind of like if you give a kid a box of new crayons. You can be sure that they will try out all the crayons in t...

Answer A: Where can I ask about fixing a Fairphone 3?
Your question "how to get a display out of the frame of a consumer product" doesn't have anything to do with electronics. For the same reason as asking how to get a shelf out of your fridge has nothing to do with cooking. Regarding troubleshooting actual electronics, here's from an answer I wrote ...

Comment Post #280577 I think this seems sensible. And maybe extend the scope of Linux to cover all UNIX systems, though that will be something that specific community can decide & discuss [here](https://meta.codidact.com/posts/276824).

Comment Post #278890 @hkotsubo No conclusion on any category yet. I think we should move such discussions to meta https://music.codidact.com/categories/53, there's several categories that would make sense.

Comment Post #279809 @Chgg Clou Because even the largest communities here are struggling with lack of user activity. So we shouldn't launch new communities that have a purposely narrow scope, when they could be merged with others & utilize different categories. Once the site is active enough, it can always split up.

Comment Post #279809 Reality check: we simply can't launch a Finance site, an Economics site and an Accounting site at once. I don't see either of these becoming particularly active any time soon. If you can't find a way to get these 3 merged by using categories etc, then we should probably not release them. We must stop...

Comment Post #280459 I think you should raise this on [Mathematics meta](https://math.codidact.com/categories/42) first. Maybe the best solution is rather to create a separate category for statistics?

Comment Post #280359 What if Codidact gets dismissed by searching engines as a "Stack Exchange scraper" site though? Not sure if that's even a valid concern, but it would affect the whole network.

Comment Post #279960 @Mithrandir24601 But site activity doesn't necessarily mean that they are suitable for moderator, other than that they are indeed active, which would be the bare minimum requirement. But if we want to start up a new community and someone who was an elected mod at the corresponding site at Someplace E...

Answer A: How can we improve community proposals?
I liked this answer where some external program was used to keep track of interested users. Generally, you would divide interested users in three groups: - Potential moderators. - Core users. - Casual users. I think naming (temporary) moderators before the site is started would help a lot in...

Comment Post #276824 Or otherwise, if this site is more in-depth and technical, then there will instead be an overlap with software.codidact.com: kernel programming, API functions, shell scripts etc are all already on-topic there.

Comment Post #276824 I think the most important consideration is to consider overlaps. If this is a community for Linux _users_ then I would imagine that there will be a huge overlap with an upcoming ["Power user" site](https://meta.codidact.com/questions/278833). To the point where I would question why *nix couldn't be ...

Comment Post #279832 Astrophysics including astronomy sounds like a good candidate for a separate category? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physics lists different research fields, though I'm not sure if those are automatically good candidates for site categories.

Comment Post #279835 Astronomy/Astrophysics should probably be a category sorting below a Physics site?

Comment Post #279821 Good job :) Should I re-edit this post to a bug report then? Since the feature apparently exists but can't be used for some users?

Question Move posts between different categories through edits?
I think it would be very handy if users with edit privileges, or at the very least the OP themselves, could move posts between different categories on the same site. This would be particularly handy for communities with a "sandbox" category. Letting regular (trusted) users do this would also redu...

Comment Post #279724 @curiousdannii‭ I'm just trying to assemble what seems to be community consensus so far into a single post - this came from the discussion [here](https://meta.codidact.com/a/275968/276307). I think this category can work out as long as we have strict rules and attentive moderators. Maybe "Discussion"...

Question Notification directs to me to 403 error page
Just got a notification about a comment in my inbox. It leads to a 403 forbidden error page, so I believe I might either be lacking some privilege to view it, or maybe the post got deleted within minutes from the notification popped up. This is the URL: https://software.codidact.com/questions/278...

Answer A: Why is the main Codidact project named QPixel?
It was an old project developed by ArtOfCode before the Codidact project even started: https://forum.codidact.org/t/i-have-an-se-clone-how-do-we-feel-about-building-on-that/74 (Why it was named QPixel specifically, I don't know.) It used a different tech stack than the one the devs had agreed ...

Comment Post #279371 @manassehkatz‭ Firefox (for example) by default whines like crazy each time you want to close a window. I have to enable non-default settings to make that behavior go away. No need for extensions or plug-ins, just run it as it comes by default.

Comment Post #278890 @Jirka Hanika‭ As mentioned in my answer, all such existing sites are really bad, because they can't provide quality answers with sources and similar. But instead a whole lot of opinions and speculation, mixed with random nutjobs posting hearsay and conspiracy theories. A high quality Q&A site would ...

Comment Post #278890 @Jirka Hanika I think most such questions would simply ask for an explanation of the lyrics. Like, what is Montreux in the line "We all came out to Montreux". In this case the question would arguably belong on a geography community. But if I ask why did they write "came out to", instead of "came down...

Comment Post #279372 And then someone goes to ask questions about Donald Duck on that site anyhow. After which the meta lawyers descend upon the topic and start to find evidence that Donald Duck is a fantasy character. And once you go down that rabbit hole, everything is suddenly on-topic (including rabbit holes, because...

Comment Post #279372 I would guess that the scope issue at SE Sci-fi/fantasy is simply caused by the usual meta lawyers, who must define everything in detail and can't apply common sense on a case-to-case basis. If I am to ask a question about Donald Duck, then my common sense tells me to 1) try to find a Disney communit...

Comment Post #279372 @Peter Cooper Jr.‭ And yet all book stores in the world manage just fine to categorize fantasy & sci-fi. You will not find books about Donald Duck in the fantasy shelf. You will not find Lord of the Rings in the children's books shelf. You won't find Star Wars books in the astronomy shelf, but in the...

Comment Post #279390 Effectively, the SE Sci-fi/fantasy site has made any manner of fiction on-topic, as long as there is some "fantastic" element present.

Comment Post #279372 Perfect opportunity to not repeat the same mistakes as SE did. They made everything from Donald Duck to Grimm brothers on-topic "fantasy", because it contains "fantastic creatures". Surely it must be possible to make a much more narrow scope and a better definition of the genres.
