A: Proposal for reorganizing the Help Center Hi! Sigma here, one of the documentation co-leads along with Mithical. These are some great ideas. I agree with the overall sentiment that our Help pages could use some love. We face a bit of a challenge, where we have some topics that overlap between general Codidact "how-to" and community-speci... (more) |

Re: Monica's question - would it make sense to call the site something like "Arts and Crafts?"
Also, would digital design up to and including UI/UX features be included in scope, or would belong elsewhere? (more) |

@Moshi how does the system determine whether it bumps or not? If it's the result of a human marking it (similar to Wikipedia) how do we ensure people are marking in good faith (trust level based approval)? If it's some kind of system determined level (more than X characters changed), what level trigg... (more) |

This seems like a decent proposal. I would worry later about the potential for perceived favoritism from moderators, but maybe we handle that on a case-by-case basis when it appears. (more) |

Yes, that's how the internal promotion currently works... with the effect that moderators and admins promote posts. (more) |

Question | — |
Should we change the score required for the Curate trust level, and if so, to what? We have some really interesting comments on this answer about the current functionality of the Curate privilege that we wanted to break out into a separate discussion. Currently, all of our user abilities are calculated using a modified wilson scoring system. The Curate is a way for highly active... (more) |

Unfortunately we have limited development resources, so we'd really like to let them focus on core Codidact development. Down the line it would definitely be nice to have an automated or semi-automated promotion workflow, but right now whatever we have will need to rely on one of the admin folks post... (more) |

Question | — |
Codidact marketing for community posts In the last few months the Codidact team has opened several pages across various social media platforms (see the bottom of this post for a list). Up until now the admins have occasionally shared posts on Twitter, but we’d like to use these platforms more intentionally to promote community content. ... (more) |

I'm not sure there's enough niche interest in each sector to justify separate communities (e.g. one based solely on asset pricing), at least at first. What do you think of starting a "Money" community, possibly using separate categories for the different disciplines? There has been some interest expr... (more) |

Most people have to do taxes, but I'm not sure a good accounting site is one that caters to everyone. I would support a community whose primary audience is accountants and accounting students, with everyone else as a secondary beneficiary. (more) |

Answer | — |
A: Should [status-completed] be used before the changes are live? A tag on the community meta should reflect the status as experienced by the community. A change in tag should communicate a change in experience. This allows users to provide feedback (it's working, it's not) rather than being unsure whether or not the new functionality is live because it might still... (more) |

I guess that depends on what you consider the basic features of the SE model. A lot of the things you mention in your comment above (flagging, closing, editing, etc.) are needed as part of the baseline for any community maintained site, c.f. Wikipedia. Rep is going away (ish). Other things will likel... (more) |

If you have a core group of users who would be interested in building a knowledge base I think we could likely move forward. Something like an official partnership with a suite could also drive traffic, e.g. if Libre or Open Office wanted to host their general support Q&A on Codidact. It's just that ... (more) |

A: Site for office suites This seems like a very specific topic that it would be difficult to find a sufficient initial userbase for. I do use both Microsoft Office and Google suite regularly, but I don't think (a question about every six months)(no. of users active on Codidact) is going to be enough to create an active commu... A: Please postpone launching new communities. There have been comment responses with no follow-up from the original author on both posts, essentially saying that the development team has been unable to reproduce the issues described. Question | — |
Add the ability to customize suspended user profile blurb There are currently only two choices available to add a "user is suspended" header on a profile. The two reasons are "for being rude" and "to cool down." Sometimes neither of these may be accurate. Can we add an option to add a custom reason? (more) |

I downvoted for the reasons others have mentioned. I would support either a general STEM / hard sciences site or a dedicated subject site, but restricting to math and physics only seems incredibly arbitrary. Additionally I think the physics community is fairly well supported by physics overflow alrea... (more) |

A big piece of the Codidact philosophy is that the communities - the people actively involved asking and answering questions on a specific topic - are more familiar with the best way to manage that process than some central gatekeeping authority. The "Codidact Team" may suggest best practices, provid... (more) |
