A: Informing community users of new permissible features In addition to points already raised (two links) in answers here, Codidact already supports network-wide featuring of posts; that functionality is currently being used for Coming soon: new abilities system and changes to reputation. Nothing prevents administrators from using that to feature someth... (more) |

Question | — |
What is clicking the inbox icon in the top bar actually supposed to do? I'm starting to wonder if my earlier bug report was based on a misunderstanding. If it is, though, I think the UI needs to be clarified. Anyway... Just what is expected behavior when the inbox icon shows a number, indicating that I have unread notifications, and I click on either the inbox icon or... (more) |

Mathematics isn't listed in the site footer or on codidact.com Mathematics Codidact was launched almost two weeks ago now, but it still isn't listed on the Codidact front page or in the page footer. Could it be added? (more) |

Not sure if the edit makes this a duplicate of my older question [Post action links that cannot be used should be hidden](https://meta.codidact.com/q/276505), but it's definitely similar. (more) |

A: Codidact is a Q&A platform or a teaching community? Allow me to go out somewhat on a limb. I get the feeling from your post, and your posts in general, that you're thinking "Codidact this" and "Codidact that". Here's a friendly piece of advice: Beyond issues of technical capabilities, don't. Instead, think of Codidact as a software platform and ... (more) |

Question | — |
Notification dropdown sometimes doesn't open when clicked This has been a recurring problem for me. Sometimes (far from always, but far too often to be comfortable), when I click the notification dropdown "inbox" icon, it simply fails to open; the element is selected (a dotted line is drawn surrounding it) but nothing else happens. This is on Firefox ESR... (more) |

@luap42 I guess that depends largely on what we want particularly "status-completed" to mean; *installed in production* or *fix ready, tested and will be deployed* but might not necessarily be deployed *yet*? From a user perspective, the former is more approachable; from a developer perspective, the ... (more) |

A: [status-completed] posts bury everything else I would like to offer a third alternative. Don't make post-bumping edits in bulk. I don't know the process that led up to those posts being retagged the way they were just now, but I strongly suspect that they didn't all need to be retagged at once. So, then, the obvious option would be to r... (more) |

@MonicaCellio Indeed, and I wasn't suggesting (certainly didn't mean to suggest) that the outcome of the discussion would necessarily *be* different. You bring up salient points in your comment, and I'm sure there are other arguments against it as well. My point was simply that on Codidact, we have *... (more) |

FWIW, with regards to the side question on what feature request means, I agree that a feature request can be for something that simply makes the site better, without necessarily solving an existing *problem*. I also think it's reasonable for a downvote on a feature request to express "I don't see any... (more) |

Regarding an "Abrahamic religions" site, given what's possible on Codidact, and I'm *not* saying such a change should be made, consider the possibility of such a site but with categories for each specific religion. On Some Other network, such a feature wasn't available. Here, it is; and even if it wa... (more) |

@luap42 Quite honestly, I think adding a preference to turn keyboard shortcuts *on* rather than *off* would be more appropriate. Default off means that users who aren't signed in, and who might not be that familiar with Codidact, wouldn't be subjected to them. I think it's better to save such power f... (more) |

Question | — |
How do I turn off keyboard shortcuts? I'm sure there are people who love the keyboard shortcuts. However, I find them to (a) be somewhat overzealous (just now, I was somehow redirected to the "ask question" page while I was writing an answer), and (b) not really add any value for me. Therefore, I would like to turn them off for me.... (more) |

Question | — |
"Forbidden" ("403") page actually uses HTTP status 401 Unauthorized instead of 403 Forbidden for deleted posts without permission There's a variety of actions which results in a display page saying "403 FORBIDDEN"; for example, accessing a deleted question without sufficient reputation to view deleted questions, including when not signed in. However, the actual HTTP response code for that, as used in the HTTP response, is no... (more) |

@Mithical Do you mean [Writing Codidact's writing challenges](https://writing.codidact.com/categories/20)? Those should already default to CC-BY-NC-SA-4.0. If there's some use case where they don't, please file a bug report so it can be fixed. If you're referring to some other site's challenges categ... (more) |

A: auto re licensing One major problem with changing the license on a post after the fact is that it affects not just the original contribution, but also every change to that post made by others; in your proposed case, over a period of 50 years. That's potentially a lot of changes. This is a reason why many open-sourc... (more) |

@MonicaCellio Intuitively, and without having thought it through in detail, I would say that they should probably be distinct UI workflows. *Duplicate* implies that the *previously existing* question covers the same ground; *supersede*, on the other hand, implies that a *newer* question takes the pla... @luap42 Closing as duplicates is useful. But so might closing as *superseded* be. I'm not sure whether this should be a specific feature request as such, but I do think it would be a useful feature to have for certain cases. (more) |

Answer | — |
A: closure-as-duplicate post notice is inaccurate Maybe what we need here is some way to close a question as "superseded by" another question; not really a duplicate per se, but something that works similarly from a technical and user perspective, with different display strings in the UI and a different implied direction of causality. That would ... (more) |

@pnuts Actively interacting with the site (for example, by posting content) is not the same thing as passively consuming content (even when logged in) and performing anonymous-to-others activities such as up/down voting on posts. (more) |

A: Should we have "Last seen" times? I would be inclined to argue against keeping track of "last seen" times; and even more so against publicly dispaying it. From simply a legal perspective, there's the issue of the GDPR's requirement for data minimization. (See for example the GDPR, article 5 paragraphs 1(b), 1(c).) While one could ... (more) |

A: "User Profile" should be more informative. > The number of /.../ posts edited by the user This information is already basically available. Fair enough, it's not the number of posts edited, but the number of edits made. A: "User Profile" should be more informative. > The number of /.../ people reached I disagree that this would be a useful piece of information.
