As a chemistry major I’d be very in favor of this proposal and would be very active were this site launched. (more) |

Depends on the area of astronomy; there’s astrophysics and there’s astrochemistry. A question asking about the spectrum of a given star would probably be more at home in a chemistry forum than a physics one. (more) |

That's fine that everyone needs an accountant, but for the same reasons that the theoretical med sci site won't offer personal medical advice, and that the Judaism site won't offer personal religious advice, this one can't offer personal accounting advice, only general or theoretical. (more) |

I don't see this as being a viable community as a standalone site. What if this were added as a separate category on the existing [Travel proposal](https://meta.codidact.com/q/74946)? (more) |

A: A Site for Privacy and Data Protection Enthusiasts Inspired by the help page for the parallel Somewhere Else here's a few other test scenarios not already covered by your list: 1. Security and privacy start before you sign on to the Internet. What hardware are you using, and in what physical environment? There's plenty to talk about offline in res... (more) |

Might be worth quoting from our [Privacy Policy](https://meta.codidact.com/assets/privacy-policy.pdf): "We want you to be able to trust us when we say: that we respect your privacy; that we don’t ask for information we don’t need; that we take care of the information you give us." Hard disagree, at least at first. I say include all of these questions in one category (especially considering the overlap between the two), and maybe at a later point we can split them into two categories if we see there's enough questions in each to warrant separate categories. (more) |

@Moshi Just because a certain subset of questions are allowed on one site doesn't mean they're necessarily banned on another. You can have a subset of questions on-topic in multiple places; the one exception I think is when that subset has such a large following that it makes more sense to give it it... (more) |

Question | — |
How does voting on site proposals work? I've seen a pattern of certain users downvoting on site proposals, not because they are against the proposal itself but rather against the concept of launching a new community. Without calling out any specific users, they have mentioned in comments and Discord that they'll revoke their downvote if th... (more) |

Search UI Overhaul Currently the search function is severely limited. Right now you can: - Match all keywords, one of a selection of keywords, or an exact search for a phrase, with wildcards, weighted keywords, and negations supported - Match score, votes, or age requirement What isn't supported that strongly ... Related suggestion, perhaps avoiding some issues with 3 and 4, and perhaps 2 as well: similar to many other Codidact sites, perhaps Power User should have its own resource request/software recommendation category? (more) |

A: A "Super user" like community to include Q&As about software applications usage Test questions: 1. My workplace is using Zoom, and I'm struggling to figure out how to do ABC. I've tried approaches X, Y, and Z, and none of them have worked. 2. I've installed Tor browser and run into problem DEF while trying to browse site GHI. As far as I can tell, there's no way around it. A... (more) |

A: A "Super user" like community to include Q&As about software applications usage There's an existing proposal for an "office suite" site. Seeing as this seems to be a broader subject that includes such programs, should we close that proposal as a duplicate of this one? Same question goes for the AWS proposal, currently closed as a duplicate of what's now Software Codidact. (more) |

@Olin The intention was more to draw attention to the issue, with these proposals being spitballs on how to solve them. Maybe upvote to agree that it’s an issue, with an answer explaining why you like the one proposal and disagree with the other? (more) |

Question | — |
Feature requests for tag filtering and sorting Issue #1: On the "tags" tab, there's an option to sort by hierarchy. When you have a lot of child tags under the same parent tag, or multiple parents next to each other with lots of children, things get...confusing. Especially when they have grandchildren and in-laws. Issue #2: When viewing a ... (more) |

Question | — |
Comments improvements to indicate assent or dissent with previously posted comments Often I'm looking over a post and feel that I have what to add as a comment. But as soon as I look at the comments, I find that someone's already written exactly what I would have said. At that point, it would just be adding noise to write my own comment saying essentially the same thing, as it would... (more) |

A: Suggestion for allowing to mark answers as "accepted", "outdated" or "dangerous" Proposal: Integrate the voting system into the reactions feature. Let users react with "this is a good post" or "this is a bad post," with the prompt for an optional comment, and continue weighing post score as you have, based solely on these two reactions. This has the benefits of: 1. Potential... (more) |
