Comment Post #74852 Recently got into D&D so I’d be very interested in such a community.

Comment Post #280103 As a chemistry major I’d be very in favor of this proposal and would be very active were this site launched.

Comment Post #280103 Depends on the area of astronomy; there’s astrophysics and there’s astrochemistry. A question asking about the spectrum of a given star would probably be more at home in a chemistry forum than a physics one.

Comment Post #278838 @Nick Why don't you expand your second comment into its own post on the Software Dev Meta?

Comment Post #279062 That's fine that everyone needs an accountant, but for the same reasons that the theoretical med sci site won't offer personal medical advice, and that the Judaism site won't offer personal religious advice, this one can't offer personal accounting advice, only general or theoretical.

Comment Post #279001 I don't see this as being a viable community as a standalone site. What if this were added as a separate category on the existing [Travel proposal](https://meta.codidact.com/q/74946)?

Comment Post #278946 Might be worth quoting from our [Privacy Policy](https://meta.codidact.com/assets/privacy-policy.pdf): "We want you to be able to trust us when we say: that we respect your privacy; that we don’t ask for information we don’t need; that we take care of the information you give us." Privacy is a fundam...

Comment Post #278947 Hard disagree, at least at first. I say include all of these questions in one category (especially considering the overlap between the two), and maybe at a later point we can split them into two categories if we see there's enough questions in each to warrant separate categories.

Comment Post #278948 Count me in. I'm trying to get into the field more seriously, and I feel I have what to offer for true beginners as well.

Comment Post #278890 @Moshi Just because a certain subset of questions are allowed on one site doesn't mean they're necessarily banned on another. You can have a subset of questions on-topic in multiple places; the one exception I think is when that subset has such a large following that it makes more sense to give it it...

Comment Post #278775 @Peter We don't want to be AskReddit either. If you just want a general chat, that exists already; the link is in the sidebar of every page on Codidact.

Comment Post #278840 @Monica I certainly did not mean it as a legitimate question to be asked on the platform. Anyway, we all know that it's Mac. :)

Comment Post #278840 Related suggestion, perhaps avoiding some issues with 3 and 4, and perhaps 2 as well: similar to many other Codidact sites, perhaps Power User should have its own resource request/software recommendation category?

Comment Post #278340 While physics and chemistry are distinct disciplines, they overlap heavily in fields such as thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and astrophysics. As a chemistry major I'd have a lot to contribute to this site.

Comment Post #278294 Bonus round: Dani and I tested this with my linked answer earlier, by changing my footnote to [3] instead of [1]. Didn't help; it displays and acts like [1], with this bug in force.

Comment Post #277974 @Olin The intention was more to draw attention to the issue, with these proposals being spitballs on how to solve them. Maybe upvote to agree that it’s an issue, with an answer explaining why you like the one proposal and disagree with the other?

Comment Post #277859 A quick search for the names of the equations I mentioned _should_ get you the relevant Wiki pages. It's just too annoying to work with them without MathJax. Please make sure to include that when the site is launched.

Comment Post #277346 Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down, you can make collapsable sections? Tell me that if posts support any form of HTML coding, that at least CSS and JS are screened so that users can't just arbitrarily execute code on the browser page.

Comment Post #277290 @luap I've been able to make it work for questions, but I can't figure out the syntax for answers, where the answer itself is already an anchor. No matter how I phrase it, I keep getting the redirect to `/q/123#answer-124`.

Comment Post #276997 I'm still confused, even after reading the Meta threads on the topic. Is there a Magic Number™ at which we say "there's clearly an interested community, let's go to launch"?

Comment Post #277186 I think a reasonable benchmark would be not just “is it reasonable to expect that someone who knows about music would be qualified to answer the question,” but also “is it reasonable to expect that _specifically_ someone who knows about music would be qualified to answer.” There’s no reason I would t...

Comment Post #277072 @Olin How is your proposal any different from the current voting system in place? Voting on Meta is an expression of "I agree/disagree" as it is. To the contrary, I think leaving site proposals as a q/a format is better, since it encourages expression of ideas on the proposal. There's a lot more to t...

Comment Post #276751 Or maybe just a color coding: red for 0-20%, orange for 20-40%, grey for 40-60%, blue for 60-80%, and green for 80-100%. You got a chuckle for the Wi-Fi symbol, but I think that'd be more confusing than anything. I give you a two-headed grey arrow for your other suggestion.

Comment Post #276752 Wilson Score isn't *that* complicated. If you enjoy math and statistics you might have some fun with figuring out how the score is calculated, but I think just telling people that 50% is neutral, higher is good, lower is bad is enough if it needs to be employed at all.
