Do members of the Code Golf communities (SE and/or TA) want to have one here too, like to be able to compare options? If the community is happy on TopAnswers then I wouldn't want to interfere with that, but we're happy to set up a community here if that's what the people involved want. (more) |

I'll leave the main part of your question for someone who can speak more authoritatively, but on your related question: yes, you will be able to link your Codidact Outdoors account to your SE Outdoors account and thus claim your content here. (more) |

@Charlie great, thanks. We're going to run your data import overnight; ArtOfCode or I should be in touch tomorrow with an update for you. (more) |

@Charlie working on it. What content do you want to import? From your meta discussion, looks like all non-closed questions (and their answers of course)? (more) |

@Charlie, it looks like you've got enough buy-in there to give it a shot, and that the people supporting the idea also support appointing you as a moderator. So we can do that, and if any TGO mods come over we can add them (that's what we did on Writing), and later y'all can have an election or some... (more) |

Welcome! From the posts you linked, it sounds like several once-active users including one moderator would be interested in trying an alternative. We'd be happy to set up a site for you here, if you (or someone else you bring in) takes point on "rallying the troops" (so to speak) and talking with u... (more) |

@wrp I don't know if this is going to be a canonical source; I was trying to answer a challenge I've received once and I assume we'll receive again. I've added some details to the question; I'm also happy to see this turn into a true community Q&A, though I don't think we have a special status for t... (more) |

@einpoklum, QPixel is the name of the software package currently running this site. It's hosted by the Codidact project and uses a Codidact URL; when the Codidact software is ready we'll move all sites that we're hosting using QPixel onto Codidact instead. The Codidact software doesn't exist yet bu... (more) |

But, more broadly, if you've got a group of users who want to build a community here, please let us know. We don't want to just create sites for the sake of creating sites, but if there are users waiting, let's talk! (more) |

Welcome! We haven't worked out a formal process for requesting communities. In the short term, for QPixel, the focus is on communities that need something sooner than Codidact will be ready, since this is an interim solution. Some SE communities are in trouble after recent events; we want to help ... (more) |

Question | — |
What kinds of data import can QPixel support? How granular can data-import be for QPixel (I realize the answer might be different later for Codidact), and can it be done more than once? We know it's possible to import "everything", but which of the following would be possible, and which can be done incrementally? - All open questions on a ta... (more) |

Answer | — |
A: How does Codidact avoid repeating Stack Exchange's mistakes? You ask an important question. If Codidact just becomes Stack Exchange Inc. version 2 in several years, we've failed our communities and ourselves. We don't want to go down the path that SE took; we all saw where that led. So we're doing some things differently from the start. First, Codidact is ... (more) |

Question | — |
How does Codidact avoid repeating Stack Exchange's mistakes? I received an important question in private email, and I'm bringing it here so we can improve on the answer I sent. This won't be the last time we get this question; let's develop a clear, effective response. The question, slightly paraphrased, was: > How will you prevent Codidact from repeati... (more) |

@mithrandir24601 I worry that that would add confusion. Meta is already "another place"; meta meta even more so. We can use a QPixel tag for questions that are specifically about this platform, and then when we migrate to the Codidact platform we can archive those. How does that sound? (more) |

@Bhargav maybe just to handle the few flags that will be raised? (Writing has had flags, though maybe not a two-digit number of them.) (more) |

Question | — |
Which communities have shown interest? Historical note: When this post was written, we planned to use the QPixel software as a stopgap while building a new Codidact platform from scratch. That's not what we ended up doing. Since early in 2020 we have instead been evolving the original QPixel code. Discussion in this post about migrating... (more) |

Question | — |
Bootstrapping: who can speak for a community? Our initial communities will almost certainly be groups of users from SE communities. A mature community should choose its own moderators and those are the people who can speak for the community when requesting things from the instance admins, but what should we do initially, before things are that ... Question | — |
What, another meta? What's this site for? Codidact Meta is for questions about the instance that we will host. You can also request changes and report bugs in the software platform that runs it, though you're also welcome to use GitHub. But what does that leave, you ask? Use this meta site for questions about: - instance-level polici... (more) |
