Answer A: Help page: call for improvement suggestions
Ordering within category Topics can be ordered within a category if you edit them to add sequence numbers. In the absence of explicit sequencing, they appear to be alphabetical by title. For the "default" (baked-in) topics, we should seed these with sequence numbers so they come out in a logic...

Comment Post #293215 Chrome on MacOS. I just updated Chrome last night (after this happened), so I don't have a specific version number. (Pretty recent; I stay on top of Chrome updates.) I'll make a note if I see this again.

Comment Post #293214 Oh, I hadn't realized that this worked either! Thanks for testing, and I agree we should adjust that message. (I think we wrote the message first, then made it redirect, then didn't notice the message needed an edit.)

Answer A: Recent feature changes to the Codidact software
February 2025 - User profiles now have three generic places for external links, replacing the previously-baked-in "website" and "Twitter" fields. January 2025 - For users without the Participate Everywhere ability, links in profiles are not shown to anonymous users. They are shown to logged...

Answer A: Bug/Improvement in the tour on "upvote"
I tried to add the button, so that either the vote or the button would advance, but that turned out to be complicated so I've instead amended the tour text there to add "After you vote, the tour will continue".

Comment Post #293214 Should we strip `user:me` and show those results after (an edited version of) this message? You'd still get something, and maybe that was enough or maybe you need to log in now and try again.

Answer A: 500 error page for user:me when not signed in
In addition to whatever we do about the error, should we add a button/link/whatever for "share these results" on the results page? That way, if you meant to share your posts (specifically) with somebody else, you'd be able to do that without editing in your own user number. Sharing the URL re-evalu...

Answer A: Deleted post hidden from everyone in the question list
Moderators can see a list of all deleted posts (most recent first). This is one of the links in the "Moderator Tools" section that mods (and admins) see in the sidebar: screenshot showing where the link is (There is a second link, "Admin Tools", in this list for those with admin access.) Cu...

Comment Post #293083 I understood the feature request to be for always adding it. If you meant we should have an *option*, I misunderstood. Currently that option is to use the quoting syntax; are you asking for something more first-tier, like a button in the editor or something like that? We've tried to avoid forking ...

Answer A: Can we streamline the process for closed bad questions?
Some mitigation: Sometime in the last several months (sorry I missed updating here at the time), we added a flag type that is visible to people with the Curate ability: new flag: change post status > Change post status > This post should be reopened/closed, locked/unlocked, or deleted/und...

Answer A: Optional frames, borders or shadow around images
We've updated the help here on Meta -- where most cases of potential confusion will arise -- to include the tip about using blockquotes. As noted in other answers, trying to add borders or shadows could introduce problems in some cases, so we're going to leave that in users' hands. As with other f...

Answer A: How to deal with links to commerce?
Personal opinion, not speaking for the team: I don't think we need a blanket ban on links, but we should make sure such links are actually necessary when used. Sometimes a link to a product listing (whether the original manufacturer or a third-party vendor) is useful; often it is not. It sounds ...

Answer A: Searching tags with a string with more than two characters results in a 500
This one has been a thorn in our sides for a while, but I think we've finally fixed 500s from tag search for all of the cases that were breaking. It turns out that our pagination code did not like empty result sets, oops.

Comment Post #293021 I agree with asking policy questions on Meta where they are more visible and discoverable! I've tried to find needles in the Discord haystack, and it's very hit-or-miss at least for me. And nobody's going to casually notice it after it scrolls out of view there.

Comment Post #293021 Oh, that sounds like a real nuisance! I just took a look at recent flags and it looks like those accounts have been nuked (thanks). I'll see if someone with DB access can spot any common factors (like IP). Next time you get one, feel free to escalate the flag -- admins have a "stronger" nuke optio...

Comment Post #293021 Thanks for these examples! Spam account A is the easiest of this lot: if it's only a spammer (no valid posts) you can delete that sucker, or if you think it's redeemable or it has valid posts too, you can suspend. Spam account B sounds like at least a suspension (and editing or deleting the low-qua...
