It could come up on the same community too, not just cross-community. Yes I think and would hope that the people involved would use good judgement, but any rules or guidelines need to account for human judgement. Rules are not a stick to be applied against better judgement. (more) |

Merely having the same answer doesn't make questions duplicates. Having the same *explained, necessary answer* does. For example, "reinstall the OS" could be the answer to a wide variety of questions, but that doesn't mean a question about audio drivers is a duplicate of a question about the boot s... (more) |

A: Copy Link pop up can be completely off screen The challenge with making modals appear above if there's not room below is that they might then cover important content. If this happened to the Flag modal, for example, it might cover most of the post, which might make writing a custom flag harder. I think we probably want at least the post modals... (more) |

One issue is that while Question, Answer, and Article are baked into the code, it's possible to define other post types. (Wiki is one; it's pure configuration on this network, not in the code and there by default.) (more) |

If the Movies community decides to explore recommendations, that's cool -- best thing to do, since it's out of the norm most people expect, would be to start a discussion on meta about it and then ask some questions in the incubator and link them to that meta discussion. The other data-transfer issue is serving the web page. We need to support a user on a phone with a so-so connection. If the page takes forever to load, that's bad - and all that extra resolution won't even be useful when it does finally load.
