Question Create thread button is enabled when the comment field is empty
Try to create a new comment thread under a post by adding a title but no comment. The “Create thread” button is active, but clicking on it does not work because a comment is required. On desktop a message is displayed after clicking on "Create thread" saying "Please fill out this field", but on mobil...

Question Guidance when hovering over upvote and downvote buttons
When hovering over the upvote and downvote counts next to a post, the score of the post is displayed, which is helpful: Score showing when hovering over the upvote and downvote counts However, the score is also displayed when hovering over the upvote and downvote buttons, which seems less helpf...

Answer A: Text colour works in edit preview but not in saved post
The fix for "Although div tag is not allowed, it's rendered in the preview" has also fixed this inconsistent style problem. Entering the same raw text into the input text box now results in an editor preview that does not show red text (consistent with the final rendered post), and has a message a...

Question Seeing which moderator marked my flag as helpful (which should be hidden)
Correct behaviour At the bottom of the right hand panel of the user profile page (or at the bottom of the page on mobile where there is no right hand panel), the number of flags that the user has raised is displayed. When viewing your own profile page, this number is a link to the Flag History page ...

Question Mouse cursor shows a hand when outside a button
The "Sign Up" and "Sign In" buttons at the top right of the page (when not signed in) have a different mouse cursor when hovered over. The mouse cursor changes to a pointing hand and the style of the button changes to reflect that it is being hovered over. This is intentional and not a problem. Ho...

Question Editor preview left outdated after adding content without the keyboard
Generally when making a change in the input text box for a post, the editor preview updates to reflect the change. However, there are two occasions when this is not the case, and the editor preview is left outdated and inconsistent with the input text box. Pasting in text After pasting in text to...

Comment Post #291544 Interesting points. I wonder if this would be a useful compromise? The following markdown: ``` [https://meta.codidact.com/posts/291474](https://meta.codidact.com/posts/291474 "What can be done to block Codidact content from getting used by crawlers/for AI training?") ``` gives what looks l...

Comment Post #291476 Since there is no voting on comments, and the answer only explains the possibility rather than being a decision to vote on, you could post a separate answer if you'd like voting to indicate community support for your decision.

I like this format because it saves people from having ...

Comment Post #291331 I'm not advocating introducing HTML comments on Codidact for syntax highlighting (hence that section of my question suggesting making that a separate feature request if anyone wants it). My main reason for posting this question is to raise the general problem that the detection of unsupported HTML...

Comment Post #291331 My experience with Stack Exchange is several years out of date, and it sounds like this method of indicating language for syntax highlighting may be deprecated. Comment Post #291331 The example I saw here was on Code Golf Codidact, where the online interpreter [Try it online](https://tio.run/) was used with its Stack Exchange output format, which uses HTML comments for syntax highlighting and 4 spaces of indentation for code blocks, rather than triple backticks.

Comment Post #291331 On Stack Overflow they are probably used rarely as the language tag on a question will be used to determine the syntax highlighting for the question and its answers. They are used commonly on Code Golf Stack Exchange, where it is common to have many answers each using a different programming langu...

Comment Post #291331 The only place I've seen them used is on Stack Exchange. I don't know if my terminology is correct, but they are HTML comments that are recognised by Stack Exchange when rendering syntax highlighting.

Question Syntax highlighting comments break the unsupported tags warning message

Comment Post #291242 I also see the 500 error for your first 2 links, and a successful page for your last link. However, the number of characters in the search term does not appear to be the trigger. For example, "da" gives a successful search, but "dt" gives me a 500. So there's definitely a problem but I don't kn...

Comment Post #291233 How do people feel about showing no deleted posts in the main user profile page, but showing your own deleted posts when you click on "Show all" to see the full paginated list of all your own posts? Comment Post #291174 Maybe if the underlying post is not edited, but the interface only displays links from posts that are not flagged as spam, then there would be no bumping. Comment Post #291174 Further protection could be provided by preventing new users from posting links. Perhaps it could be an ability that is earned. This way users would be protected from dangerous links even before the post is flagged. The reaction approach could still be available as an additional measure for any sp...

Comment Post #291174 I like the idea of warning users that links may be dangerous, but in addition we could also remove links from a post when it is flagged as spam. If a moderator later decides the flag was incorrect, they can dismiss the flag and the link will be restored.

Comment Post #291174 Some spam is just unwanted advertising, and the target of the link is irritating but not dangerous. Question Should multiple whitespace characters in a row be permitted in usernames?

Comment Post #291153 In addition to allowing the outcome to be more tailored to each individual community, separate discussions per Codidact community would also allow some communities to experiment and try out different approaches, rather than trying to guess up front what is best.

Comment Post #291130 Doubting myself, I reread the question and now I can see that it does mention less formal chat rather than just a specifically assigned mentor, so this might well be suitable for posting as an answer. Comment Post #291130 I decided to add comments for things that are not mentorship but may be of interest to people reading this question. Comment Post #291130 The following is not official mentorship in the sense of having an assigned mentor, but is a great source of help when contributing: The chat link in the right hand panel (or lower down the page on mobile) goes to a Discord server called "Codidact Communities" with a channel for each community. Comment Post #291107 I think many people can handle securely recording an id, but I would want it made very clear that unlike with a password, there is no way to reset the id if they do lose it. Comment Post #291127 I'm recommending making the post as clear as possible because I believe this is an important discussion to have, particularly because Codidact is set up to let communities largely govern themselves via Meta. Comment Post #291127 I think there's a typo in the paragraph directly following the bullet points - first and second seem to be switched from what you intend in at least one place.
